I had a guy on Twitter tell me that Kessel isn't worth 8x8 because he's only cracked 65pts once and never hit 40g. I pointed out last year he had 52pts in 48gm and would be well over 65pts in a full season and had 1 season at 64pts. His response "this is cute, you're just proving my point"

So I asked if he's ok with Claude Giroux's contract of 8.275x8 considering Giroux is lesser in goals and slightly better in points...I got no response

like i said... like him or not.... he has improved...

and yes like other stars, kessel makes guys around him better. which may blur your vision.

i'm definitely not a bozak fan, but i cant deny the fact that he has improved.

We'll see about that.

like him or not.... he has improved every year!!

if you look at his numbers, you could expect a jump in his numbers this year.

Not a hater but a realist and Kessel isnt worth Crosby, Malkin, Giroux, Ovechkin, Stamkos money, period.
- GOA88

cause he had one 90+ point season?

hate to break it to you but Kessel was outscoring your beloved Giroux last season.

if Giroux is worth that, so is Kessel

Wait, hold on. I thought Kessel was going to walk? Van, habs and sens fans told me. Plus there is no way we get kadri and franson signed.

Giroux is probably the best comparison and he only makes 0.275mil per year more over 8 years

Crosby makes 12 million and 50 milion in endorsements a year...

Stamkos is not comparable yet he is 23...his contract expires when he is 26...he will get more than Kessel dont worry

ovechkin makes 9.5 million...which is about 20% more than kessel

so these are not comparable to Kessel

only Girioux is comparable

No problem whatsoever with 8 mil cap hit for Kessel.

We don't need him to be a leader, we simply need him to score 30-40 and get 40-50 assist. Which is attainable.

Anyone valuing him any lower than 8 is lost, he would likely get more as a FA.

no, you're not a realist if you don't understand that when you sign matters. eight pending UFAs have signed a max length deal since CBA. Kessel is fifth highest paid.

And wait 'til TBay has to buy some of his UFA years. That contract will be north of 8 x 10 million.

We'll see about that.

it's not a statement that can be determined by future events.

the bozak that joined 3-4yrs ago has improved each year. it's fact.
maybe kessel has something to do with that, but maybe bozak had something to do with kessel's improvement as well.
he was on pace for points in mid 50's last yr... if kessel and JVR have better years again, it's not unrealistic to think bozak could crack 60pts....

end of the day, i don't like bozak as 1C, but it is what it is, and he has shown improvement yr after yr
