I smell a shoot out tonight. Ranger will score the winner with his stick-kick-trick.

Orr-Parros at 2:47 of the 1st - off the faceoff.

i would be more than happy with 40-50P from him so long as his prescence opens up the ice for guys like Kadri and Lupul to thrive and have increased point totals.

I thjink thats very attainable.

- Dozzer

i think close to 50 points is setting the bar incredibly high for him. this is a guy whose career average is in the 30-35 range. i think if (given his suspension) he hits 15 goals, 20 assists this year, Leaf fans should be happy as a pig in poop.

But seriously, I don't think it's outrageous. 8 million is pretty much what everyone was expecting.
- Pecafan Fan

he has legitimately put himself in a position where he should be considered a top ten scorer in the league.. and yes.. those guys cost 8 million ish

depends, NJ played a boring system, kovalchuck's line was the only one that made poop happen, that being said; clarkson wasnt often on that line, but when he was...he produced.

i think around 45 points in 72 games.

thank (frank) we dont have the listen to the Kessel contract talk for months...that would have been unbearable.

8mil whatever... it doesnt matter what we think hes worth...his production the past few seasons puts him in the catagory with Girioux etc.. he will get paid 8 million by someone. the leafs really dont have a choice if they want to keep him.

if the options are trade or pay 8 million now..they have to do it.
Prime production years coming for kessel

- senstroll

no we don't, but you can bet the is this the type of player you want on your cap for 8yrs to begin from MSM within 1-2hrs after the announcement... so predictable.
the first time he goes 3 games without a go, it'll be "not living up to his contract"

sigh.................

i will take that bet good sir. i just don't see it. but i also don't think he was signed to put up 50 points per year so i don't think it's a failure if he puts up the numbers i suggested. we shall revisit this in April.

you are failing to consider the fact that he was playing in what amounted to a trap system.. and has only been playing top 6 minutes for the past two seasons.

even last year.. when the devils had that horrendous offensive slump.. he was on pace for 48

you cant use his first 5 seasons as a basis for offensive output since he was generally used in 3rd and 4th line roles.

It wasnt until Deboer, his junior coach took over the Devils that he was given the chance in the top 6

I would like to chime in. I've picked Kessel in every freakin pool I've entered this year. Go Leafs Go! And as of today, Habs officially suck A$$, and Flyers suck A$$ tomorrow.

i understand all that. i also know he scored something like 6 goals in the last 38 games last year after a torrid start. like i said to big D, i don't think Clarkson was signed to score at a top-6 pace. Leafs have plenty of wingers who can put the puck in the net. so i don't think Clarkson scoring 15-18 per season is a failure. like you said, if he can open up lanes for other players that's just as good.

Kessel 82 + 52
- JVince11

Go to sleep man if you're seriously saying its a bad contract. Kessel is either 25/26 to lazy to check and has been a top 10 guy for 2 years in a row. Not to mention he even slightly picked up his defensive game last year. I know its hard being a Sabres fan, but no need to talk crazy.

i like the big, dry smoked ribs you get down south. lots of places like that have popped up in Montreal in the last 5-6 years.
