He was on pace for the entirety of the season not a segment you like to pull out to a small sample size.

well that is true... I guess we don't know what the yearly is for Kessel but the AAV of 8M per is what is wrong with the owners of this league.

It is the inflation of contracts for these players that is making the NHL go under.

You can't compare cap hits under the old CBA. Take a hard look at Cap Geek and the contracts of the top 25 or so players. The old CBA allowed teams/players to arbitrarily lower cap hits by tacking on 3 or 4 years at the end. Take a look at what Crosby, Ovechkin, Weber and Malkin are earning over the first 8 years of their current contracts. Its closer to 11 milly for Weber, Crosby and Malkin - so there's your high water mark.

Kessel at 8 doesn't seem out of whack if those guys are at 11; well, at least to any objective observer.

thank (frank) we dont have the listen to the Kessel contract talk for months...that would have been unbearable.

8mil whatever... it doesnt matter what we think hes worth...his production the past few seasons puts him in the catagory with Girioux etc.. he will get paid 8 million by someone. the leafs really dont have a choice if they want to keep him.

if the options are trade or pay 8 million now..they have to do it.
