"aging Alfredson" being gone is going to have more of an adverse affect". Capt:

Quite possible. The guy has been the face of the franchise forever.

Hate seeing him go to the Red Wings.

Capt. They have a couple of pretty good Goalies and have replaced an aging Danial Alfredsson with Bobby Ryan. Dont forget one of the best offensive "D" men in all of hockey. I wouldnt count them out at all. They could go pretty deep into the PO's

An awesome coach that will have them playing an excellent team system.

Looks like I'm out voted!

Nah, there are quite a few people that agree with you. I just don't get why? I get the whole injury thing last season but Karrlson in his Norris year and Spezza having the best season in his career didn't get them in 2 years ago. Last year they played a weak team in the 1st round and they got TROUNCED by the Pens in the second. Like they didn't even put up a fight with the games I watched. Like they were just trying to hold on especially in a physical aspect. I just think they are along the same lines as Montreal. Flash and dash but that's it.

I think he's going to be a perfect fit for that team. I can see the Wings going to the finals this year. Not neccesarily bcs of Alfredsson but he certainly isn't going to hurt their chances. The Wings were one goal away from the finals last year. Whether they would've beat Boston or not is debateable.

If you're referring(thought maybe you were bcs of Vukota's response to my post in response to yours. lol) to me in this post my opinion hasn't changed. I still have my doubts with Snow our lack of goaltending and defense speaks volumes to me. I never said our prospects sucked. I always liked Bailey(still do) didn't like Okposo. As far as the PO's last year, yeah I said there was little too no chance, got me there bud. My opinion hasn't changed about Nino, I still think he's going to be a good power fwd. I don't think because he had differences with Snow and was mismanaged by him he's a bust. BTW, Streit facking sucks
- Cptmjl

Exactly. I'm still skeptical as well, but at the same time I have no problem giving him credit when he deserves it.

Do you think they are that desperate? There must be someone they can call up.

Does Nabby play both Friday and Saturday? I sure hope so. I defintitely do not want the great Poulin in net for the opener. Isles haven't won an opener in years

I dont think anyone is that desperate.

Here's a question for you. Play Ricky in goal for an entire game or Play with 6 Skaters and no goalie. Which way gives the team a better chance to win?

NOTE: I believe it was done once. A team playing its last game of the season needed a tiebreaker to make the final PO spot. (dont remember exact details)They played without a goalie in order to score a $h!t load of goals. Anyone remember that story? That game?

Cant remember if I heard the story from Bill Chadwick or the Stan Fischler.

Boston, pulled their tender against the Leafs last year early and came back to win. But you mean play an entire game like that, never heard of it.

I heard the story maybe 20 or more yrs ago so my recollection of details is cloudy. Thinking back and taxing my memory. Here's what I remember hearing.

One team needed a win or tiebreaker to make the PO's. It was the final game of the regular season. Heres where the details get fuzzy.

I think the team needing a win or a tiebreaker went down by 2 or 3 goals early in the game. (like early 1st period?)Their coach knowing it would be tough to overcome the deficit and win. Pulled his goalie in order to score the 7 or 8 goals needed for the tiebreaker and make the PO's. I think they still came up short.

I was hoping someone else heard this story and could clear up the details a bit.

I'm pretty sure that this happened back in the 60's or earlier before expansion.

No way Kabanov comes anywhere near 100 points this season. I love your optimism but I just don't see it

He may get 100 in the ECHL!!!!

Those guys are great at marketing. Whatever jersey they come up with will be cool for a third.

Well, there's only one way to go from the current thirds!
