why are we all of a sudden complaining about depth at centre with big players?

Also I wouldn't include Byron on a list with Granlund. Byron is going to follow Neminsz's path I think.

At least the Ekblad vs Reinhart decision is easier now. Unless a RW climbs the ranks in a hurry.

I was just about to make this point. It seems like before this year everyone was saying how the Flames had no depth at center. Now that they have some, it's a bad thing.

Depth being relative considering who is in our line up... Chances a plenty though for those that want it!!! Agreed though, its a good problem to have!!!!

Stajan is a good player...its not his fault that he was included in a bad trade

back on topic why not take a chance on a young player? especially a big center. There are tons of guys who become great players after getting a fresh start

Agreed...
Vetts, I have to disagree with you on this one. I think Monahan's fate is squarely in Monahan's hands, Colborne coming here won't change that. IF Colborne can raise his play and Monahan stays and thrives, then I see the Backland's and Stajan's being at risk of losing a job and being trade bait...

Possible... I think people are overvaluing Colborne though...

Having A LOT of centres, isn't the same as having actual depth...

I understand the theory, I just don't see it from him... Would LOVE to be proven wrong.

Yeah you are missing something....the Flames are weak up the middle and got a big young center to add to their depth for minimal cost. Zero harm in making this move.

Fat kid
If anything his issue with weight is lack of it.

You sound like a jealous Oiler fan who had his cookie stolen.

Sorry but if there is anyone salivating over Colborne's size they will be sadly mistaken. He plays a very soft game and does not use his size to his advantage whatsoever. He might as well be 5'9. He simply has no compete to his game and although he has improved his skating a bit he still looks very unnoticeable on the ice. I do think it was a decent move for the Flames though. He will most likely be a better player than any 4th round pick the leafs will get. Colborne just needs to drastically change his game and needs a fire lit under his ass and maybe he can get that in a new organization with a new coach but so far he is 0 for 2.

I don't disagree with that statement but again he was a 16th overall pick for a reason at one point and I still like that choice better than a 4th round pick next year... Like I said before, the Flames are going to be a team where you will have a chance to be a regular contributor. I'd like to think he can play better but if he continues to be mediocre (at best) what have we really lost?

We didn't lose much, I just think the "arrival" of Joe is FAR overhyped... Time will tell.

I was going to say exactly this. Colbourne does not belong on an NHL squad right now.

Just like Arcobello does not belong with the Oilers but is there because Nuge and Gags are out for a bit longer.

I doubt he'll last long....
