It is embarrasing! I mean look how fast Detroit replaced Nik Lidstrom! And how fast NJ replaced Scott Stevens and Scott Niedermayer!

- MJL

actually DET, 1 yr after losing lidstrom, is already on track w/ their prospects on D. kronwall was already in place and guys like dekeyser were key signees. their D is better than ours now and will be at least until morin, hagg, et al are ready to take bigger roles.

NJ seems like they're banking big time on larsson, who may need another season to hit his stride. if he does, he'll be better than any young guy we have for a couple of yrs.

And Larsson- since we're talking potential here he's still a question mark, mind you- came how many years after Flying Chicken Wing Elbow and Niedermayer?

have you ever actually played ice hockey competitively ?
- watsonnostaw

Yes, for a number of years as a defenseman. Sometimes I got hit against the boards. Hard. It's called hockey.

Nobody can slate faster then the puck!
- MJL

That's actually an excellent point, one that should be incorporated more intelligently and skillfully in their game plan.

yea, a lot of FA guys and plyrs like greene and oduya, but post lockout, lou understands this position is more vital than it ever has been before. seems like the dividing line w/ prospects seems to be between the teams that can't develop dmen and others that can't produce centers.

Max Domi in the 1st period of his 1st game after being sent back to London delivers a flying elbow, so far no suspension.

- ob18

To be honest, it didn't look as bad in slow motion as it did in real time. It looked as if Domi's glove, not his elbow, ended up smacking McGinn in the side of the face.

Not to minimize what Domi's intent was by any means, but I have to wonder if McGinn was actually hurt on the play.

shocking that the tsn/nhl live preview of the flyers tonight was all about the offense being fine, and all question marks being placed squarely in net. no mention of the defense, team defense, 5 on 5 play, and of course coaching. shocking i tell you.

still, they said flyers are a rebound team and will make the playoffs.

Nice. I am in my 10th year of the same keeper league. This year I picked up Nichuskin and Ristolainen. Gotta draft for the future.

We all know Homer is still working on a blockbuster with Nashville for Weber:

B. Schenn. Morin, Gus, next years first and whatever draft compensation they can get for Mez in another deal.

I love the Nich pick. It's great the Flyers beat the Sens the last game to drop from 8 to 11

The fact remains neither of those teams have #1 defenseman because they are hard to come by. You have to draft them or overpay in a trade.

kronwall is top pair worthy and larsson will be if he fulfills his potential. DET def has a better D corp. certainly best to develop your own.

Welcome to the Canadian media. I get inundated with superficial analysis of the Flyers like that over and over.. and yet they'll analyse what Bernier and Rimer had to eat on a particular day because it's the Leafs.

I feel like multiple NYR may not be great for offense. But I guess if you're going to have any NYR, Nash and Stepan are the offense to have.

I think they should both be able to come close to a PPG. Also, Stepan provides a lot of +s, and Nash provides a lot of hits, so they're helping with things besides for points.

I'm surprised OEL was still there by your last point. I think he's headed to mid 40s for points this year.

Hall and Gervais to the AHL, Bourdon to non roster injured reserve(had no idea it existed until today) to get under the cap. Pronger on LTIR.

Current roster:

12 Forwards: Hartnell, Schenn, Talbot, Rosehill, Giroux, Lecavalier, Couturier, Laughton, Voracek, Simmonds, Read & Rinaldo

7 Defensemen: Timonen, Coburn, Streit, Schenn, Grossmann, Gustafsson, Meszaros

2 Goalies: Emery and Mason

Expect tomorrow that they will recall Hall and sign Hal Gill to a 1 year deal, with Pronger's LTIR exemption
