Wow that is somewhat of a surprise to me after hearing what the talking heads were saying the players thought about it.

Apparently it's good to give the linesmen more power when it comes to arbitrary rules, not to mention they have to hold about 4-5 players' positions in their head while tracking the puck. This is gonna run SOOOOOOO smoothly. Can't wait for the first time it actually affects the outcome of a game.

Yes! Lots brewing. A bunch of decisions that make no sense.

If...IF...this defense could stay healthy:

Kimmo-Coburn
Schenn-Steit
Grossmann-Mezaros

That could be a hell of a line up.

I like the hybrid system a lot. Between that and the trapezoid. The NHL has finally nailed it

I have concerns about that Schenn-Streit pairing if that turns out to be the lineup.

Not quite sure how it breaks down but I would think it cuts out about 20-30 seconds of meaningless hockey a game

Don't be ridiculous. Instead of having a useful player who can kill penalties and win faceoffs, it's more important to have a goon to square off with Orr in a staged fight.
- PLindbergh31

Lol. Agree to disagree on that one.

I never liked the trapezoid. Its gets defensemen killed. But I do like the intent of the hybrid icing, which will help to keep defensemen from getting killed. They sort of cancel each other out.

Ya, when you get past the health and age issues, and just look at this group for it's skill, I don't understand why people think this is a bad D group. It's a very skilled group, especially when you consider that Gus is looming outside the top 6 there, too. Kimmo is a #2 dman. Schenn and Streit are both #3 dmen, Coburn is a #4 (maybe a #3 depending how you look at it). Mez is a #4, and Grossmann is a solid #5 guy. Real good group when healthy, I think.

I think so. We can move the puck. hit some people. In the third you can team Schenn back with Kimmo then Grossmann with Coburn band have 2 really good lines. And if....If...IF...Lavi were to have a little more sense about the forwards playing a little more defense, we could be set. IMO.

trying to get fired up for the season, but after the preseason not that excited. Sad to say. If you look at the team on paper you would think they would be good, but what rolled out of the ice sucked. Problem is it looks just like last year. Guys skating around lost. I hope I'm wrong, but oh well we will see soon enough.

Same problem as always. A bunch of 3-4 D men don't make up for not having a legit top pairing guy(Kimmo isn't one anymore, LSchenn isn't there yet)
