we have until tomorrow to get our roster set but nobody after today can get waived...so either we are A)making a trade B)putting guys on IR or C)sending Larsson down temp (even with this they still have to make 1 roster move)

Can't we still send Gio down without going through waivers? Or did you already take that into account and we still have one extra contract?

Also, there will be no justice in the world if we dump Fayne because there's no room for him with Zidlicky, Volchenkov, and Salvador's contracts. It will just be a swift punch in the balls by life if that happens.

For the hundredth time, a two-way contract doesn't mean they are waiver exempt

I believe according to TG from F&I that Gio would of had to be put on waivers today to actually come off by tomorrow 3pm....Devils still need to make 2 moves after Janssen was put on waivers

Urbom and waive Gionta? I know he's a fan favorite but my thought is that the upside of giving JJ NHL minutes is greater than what Gio can bring on a short-term basis. Admittedly he's a much more reliable player than JJ right now, but no one doubts JJ has a brighter future than him. Its time JJ poops or gets off the pot, we have to try him out as an NHL regular.

I think the Devils might have a better chance "sneaking" somebody down today then a week or two from now when injuries can make another team have a need and an open roster spot.

Normal IR is fine. LTIR is mostly for a team that needs cap relief because it allows you to exceed the cap by that players cap hit, like we did with Rolston a couple of years back. IR just lets you use that guys roster spot for someone else. LTIR also means that the guy has to miss 10 games and/or 24 days

Then I don't get why so many teams are in such a jam if you can put guys on IR and LTIR that could easily clear up 4 spots and 2 of them you don't have to worry about missing 10 games or is there a rule that these guys have to be proven injured

Well besides the fact that putting them on IR means they can't play, they do have to have some legitimate reason for being on IR

How many games do they have to miss to be put on IR LTIR is at least 10 games or 25 days I believe.
