I don't buy that. Maybe due to localised heating, but mechanical mixing rarely will chemically alter something (not something natural anyway)...

I think it's the fiber that gets lost when it's chopped.

I said this from the beginning that Rielly will earn his spot on the roster and will develop more as a 6/7 defensemen practicing with pro hockey players rather than playing in Moose Jaw. Plus the option to play in the World Juniors is still there. At the very least Rielly should get his 9 games which should put pressure on Gardiner. Although I'm a huge fan of Gardiner and see that he's improving, he does look "lackadaisical" out there at times. Rielly will eventually be the better player because of his hard work and determination and higher compete level.
