I understand the "hasn't played one game thing" but the whole "slap in the face thing is silly"... These (frank)ers get paid millions and millions to play a (frank)ing sport. If this is the worst thing some of they have to deal with and their egos can't take another guy being named captain, than they should go (frank) themselves

I'm pretty sure Eakins has a decent idea of who is a leader on and off the ice already. For all we know the players had a vote, or Smid said he didn't want it, hell, they could have had a ping pong tournament for captaincy.

It's not fair to only have 1 for two entire teams to fight over -- Some guys don't get much of an opportunity to have it throughout the game... How do you think those guys feel? Not very good I'm assuming. Give each of them a puck, give them all C's, and god dammit, increase their salaries! I'm sick of these guys pouring their hearts out for 2-20 minutes a game, 60-70 games a year (when factoring in injuries) and being left with nothing to show for it, and with nothing in their bank accounts! The NHL is basically a modern day slave trade... I have no idea how they put up with all of the things they do for basically nothing!
