AGAIN???
Please do elaborate where outside of the selections of Eberle (which was not his pick) he appears a genius to date... and not the selections where a monkey could pick either... (ie 1st overalls)... - saskoil21
Martin Gernat (5th), Dillon Simpson (4th), Martin Marincin (2nd), Juhjar Khaira (3rd), and Brandon Davidson (6th). This last draft also had some great looking selections, but there hasn't been enough time to evaluate those guys yet. Also, at one point, Tyler Bunz made him look pretty smart (only to disappoint the next year). |

And I still see 0 for NHL games... so where does he appear to look like a genius to date??? Out of that entire bunch maybe Khaira gets a lick... |

I remember when many were all "Lolz! Skinner iz way betturrr Hall sux!!"
Yeah don't hear much from them anymore. Well actually you do but they just don't mention that they held that opinion once. Fans convictions are about as solid as jello. - TheTaoOfSemenko
It started with "All your young guys such!", then became "Eberle's good, but Hall sucks and RNH is injury prone!", then it was "Hall and Eberle are good, but RNH is injury prone and Yakupov is going back to Russia!", and now it's at "Hall, Eberle, and Yakupov are good, but RNH is Tim Connolly 2.0!". The truth is, they don't know what they're talking about. |

Not a genius but hardly a failure. I would say he's been solid. - TheTaoOfSemenko
Not a genius, and not a magnificent bastard... Good, but not anything that most of the fans on these boards could have easily replicated. The Eberle pick was the only one that was great considering draft position, and most teams manage to pull a lucky one out of their asses from time to time anyway. |

People need to try and remember that 1st overalls may step directly into the NHL but lower picks generally take time. You can't rationally brand Stu as a drafting failure nor genius yet. |

I like him too, but there's no way we should have taken him instead of RNH. - laughs2907
Yet we are in dire need of a Landeskog 'type' player moreso that a RNH 'type' if we had fwds with size this discussion is moot... however... |

The worse part is he is only doing what the GM asks of him. ST made a move and made Stu go after guys that had lots of character. With Mac, Stu is now suppose to look for skill no matter what the deficiency. |

He's been here since 2007... He hasn't earned the "magnificent" title yet... It may change down the road, but right now, he should be named Stu "Average" MacGregor.

Nope. A winger that bangs with a concussion would be better. |

and the scouting and drafting was ballz before that. It kinda takes time to revamp these things...especially when the mother club has gone into 'burn and salt the earth' mode. |

Correction... keep the injured center... as for concussions- hall has had one...skinner - ditto... I guess RNH is immune? Further- Hall is a winger turned center- I guess Landeskog cant take draws and win what 40+% of the draws... its not like RNH has a great f/o winning percentage... |

Take a look over the past 4 years of the NHL draft. How many players outside of the first round are nhlers today? And how many are impact guys? |

True Number 1 centers are the toughest commodity to find in hockey.
Assuming Both players top end potential, nuge is absolutely the right choice |
