Nope.

I think he'll become more popular when people stop overrating him. He's not as big and tough as people want him to be. He has never been as physical as people want him to be for any kind of consistency. He's definitely not as big as all the power forwards people compare him to and his on ice IQ pretty modest. Peoples expectations need to come down to earth. Its really not fair to Kassian.

I know you like to compare him to Bertuzzi as far as development goes and how long it takes but Bert was 240 lbs and a couple of inches taller. That makes it much easier to be a successful power forward over Kassians 210/215 lbs... I don't feel there is a Bertuzzi type power forward there... just not big or skilled enough. If Kassian ends up a 3rd liner in his prime, I wont be disappointed.

Bertuzzi was a little man in a big mans body. Soft hands, agile and quick

Probably. Its unbelievable that they'd give it to a veteran SC winner over a grizzled 21 yr old.

They cant play in their home building yet and been doing neutral buildings for home games. I read this on their site days ago.

I thought at first it was their home arena...Not really a money maker there

There's a team playing there in a league I've never heard of, but what's new, I've never heard of a lot of things...

Kassian's development was really poorly handled imo. Bertuzzi was drafted in 1993, played two more years of junior which allowed him to grow and develop both as a person and a player. Kassian did the same but needed at least a couple of years in the American league to grow as a person. The 20 games suspension because of his complete lack of maturity wasted a year for him.

In Bertuzzi's draft year he had 27 goals 58 points in 60 games. Kassian, who is also listed at 6'3", had 24 goals 63 points in 61 games. So very similar! Bert has better hands and offensive abilities, but they're similar players imo.

Edit: Kassian will never be what Bertuzzi was, a star player. But like Booner said, if he turns out to be a 50 point player I'd be more than happy!! Expectations are way too high for the kid.

Yes, I've said before that Lucic is a fair comparable. Both are to dumb to spell their own names. Both are lose canons. Both are lazy and selfish quite often

Agreed, although I don't think Kassian will score 30 goals. 20+ is about what I see him at, depending on his line-mates. 50 point seasons would be good for him. I'm ok with that.

Like to see Gillis trade him for Brett Connolly though

I would like to see Gillis go back in time and actually trade Hodgson for a young player that's actually showed something at the NHL level.

Offensive line is a mess and Wilson doesn't look as good as he did down the stretch last season. Odd.

If I can have any non Droulin prospect from Tampa, I'll take Slater Kouskouk

Bertuzzi was also 25 yrs old before he found his NHL game. Probably when he was put on a line with Naslund? Maybe some good line-mates will do the same for Kassian?
