If they are both waiver eligible then they both have to stay with the Canucks, or clear waivers to go down. By by Horvat...
- 1970vintage

Yes Horvat will most likely be sent down now.

what is odd to see is all the individuals that think the nucks will have some choice about signing the sedins long term. They arn't rfa's. If they don't offer them 8 years and bucks, then someone else, with the cap rising, will offer them 7 years and bucks. Sure signing them to a 3-4 year deal would be best for the team, but guess what... tough poop. they are still top 30 players in the league and will be payed like that on term and money. By the nucks or someone else. People thinking otherwise need to put down their xbox controllers and look at reality. and as a fan it is sad. If anyone thinks the last lockout changed a league that handed out contracts like kovy, suter, parise, then they are fooling themselves. I know how old the sedins are and it's not gonna mean squat come contract time. IMO of course

A buddy of mine just sent me a text about this trade so I wanted to know some details.

Here is a breakdown of the deal from a Carolina perspective:

From a Carolina fan at HF.

Colour me a bit confused.

Thanks Nucker, sounds like the RW Gillis has been searching for to...wait, what? oh, never mind. Maybe he will fit with Booth and Santorelli on the 3rd line, and we won't have to worry about Weise or Sestito.

More from other CAR fans at HF:

Dalpe has a dynamic shot, serviceable speed, a large frame, and handles the puck well in traffic. He has been on the cusp of making the roster full time but just can't seem to find the game to game consistency to make it happen. He's a better player than Boychuk, IMO. Carolina was going to be forced to waive him if they didn't keep him on the roster, so getting *something* of value out of him is positive, but I can't help but feel like he didn't get enough of a chance to show what he can do. I wish him the best of luck with Vancouver.

Thought this one was kind of funny...

Welsh is the player with the largest NHL contract ever (technically).

Signed as college free agent, and to win his services, Carolina more or less gave him a full years worth of a contract to play in the last game of the season. He got $925,000 for one game, which pro-rates to a whole season as $17,945,000 over the whole year...

Starting to seem like maybe the team is in fact trying to ice a more offensive third line, so Kesler's will be used as the main checking line. If so, I like the idea. Also...

When everyone is back:

Henrik
Daniel
Burrows
Kesler
Hansen
Higgins
Booth
Santorelli
Richardson
Kassian
Dalpe
Shinkaruk
Horvat
Schroeder
Sestito
Weise

That's 16 forwards, still 15 if Horvat is sent down, and 14 if Shinkaruk is as well.

Raymond is built for the east, he will do well, but he'll get hurt playing against a western team.
- A_SteamingLombardi

Raymond would do better with torts telling him to stop going in circles around the circles and cut to the net. I blame av for not coaching him to cut into the tough area.

Hey Todd- don't you live near our farm team? Where is the analysis? I was at least hopeful you had some mojo covering Utica.

No, Canucks need some grit, not a wussy puck mover who can't do poop when it matters.
- dshiddy

Redden fought when he was in the minors. The guy has some heart even if his skills have diminished.

Fair enough. I just think the guys off huge deals are worth the cheap dough to get signed. Except Whitney. He sucks.

I would like his leadership and I was super surprised he tanked so bad but in the end the torts factor would seem to make it not feasible but I am not privy to any insider info there....

Actually, as per capgeek this makes 52 contracts. At least one of the kids is gone and I'm betting wiese or setisto, or Alberts
