I'm ok with Waiving Gervais, but I thought Hall played well. Hopefully just a paper move and we don't lose him on waivers.
- Hextall271

A team lacking bottom 6 depth would be smart to take him (looking at you, Edmonton)

Yea and ....? He still got saddled with long term deals that eat up cap space

Too true.

As a question about what the move means, obviously the Flyers want to see what Laughton can do in the big show for more than a 4 game period, regardless if they can or cannot keep him for longer than the 9 games without burning the year of his ELC. I know the ELC is made to be a joke between some around here but, in a NHL Cap era, it matters enough for it to be a part of the discussion. But like I said, regardless I think the Flyers want to see what he can do. I guess it just comes down to whether they slot him on the 3rd or 4th line. Talbot has looked good this year, he's been shooting the puck like his first year when he vastly exceeded expectations. So it's a tough call. Wouldn't mind Lavy putting him on the 3rd line and telling him to just forecheck hard and play defensive minded, the offense will come. But it's Lavy and this is the Flyers, so let's trade for John Mitchell and keep Laughton as the 14th forward behind Rosehill.

- GirouxForTheShow

the ELC is def important in the cap era and if laught is a bubble plyr, send him back. don't get the hall move...one of the few guys during the exhib season that's doing exactly what he's hired for

Did you use the Cap calculator to come to that total?
- MJL

I used the cap calculator on the $-16,022. I didn't see a way to put Pronger on LTIR so I dod those numbers by hand.

Panotch speculating the Hall waiver is adding more fuel to the possible Mitchell/Mez trade to come. Also he is saying Holmer wants Gill as the #7. Perhaps delaying signing him until the trade is worked out.

I'm not sure what what moves you included in coming to that figure. Not sure that 7M and change figure you gave is accurate with the way LTIR works. I'd need to know who you have on the team.

Concerns over starting Laughton's ELC should have zero bearing on what the Flyers do with Laughton in my opinion. It's just really not an issue. Just because they waived Hall, doesn't mean he's going anywhere.

Didn't the Flyers place MAB on Waivers about a week ago or so?

All I did was waive Gervais, Hall. Roster is:

Hartnell-G-Voracek
Schenn-Lecav-Simmons
Laughton-Couts-Read
Rosehill-Talbott-Rinaldo

Timmo-Streit
Coburn-Mez
Schenn-Grossman
Gus-Pronger

Emery-Mason

That puts them at $16,022 over the Cap. on day 1 put Pronger on LTIR so that should give them ($4.941,xxx-$16,022)+ $64,300,000 = $69,225,407. Of course I could've screwed it up, LOL.

I was talking about when you increased their Cap space with a trade of Meszaros.

Not until after they maximize Pronger's LTIR if I understand the rule properly.

The LTIR rule doesn't prevent them from trading a defenseman before placing Pronger on LTIR.

True, but by being right at the cap when you put Pronfer on LTIR you get a higher cap level you can go to during the season.

If you place Pronger on LTIR during the Season, it doesn't matter how close to the Cap you are, when you do it.
