Maybe this is just the canucks fan in me, but when both Schneider and Edler where made available at the draft, Homer should have went all in.
I get they are great young players but Homer should be open to moving one of Coutourier and B schenn in order to get a #1 d man or goaltender

- Bieksa#3

You tell me: Do you have any feel whether Schneider was made available to every team? Or did Gillis focus on NJ, knowing they needed a Brodeur replacement and were in the Top 10?

the trade announcement will be immediately followed by the revelation that grossmann indeed has another concussion.

I was shocked when he came back in the game. Looked in outer space on the bench right after the hit.

That's true. But hard to win in a league where your goaltending is basically non existant. I think this is 99% on Homer. And I like homer. Few Gms have the balls to trade like he does.
- Bieksa#3

I think we have to grow our own elite goalie. We'd never be able to get a guy like Quick, Lundqvist, or Rask through trading. We have to give more dedication to scouting, drafting, and developing goalies.

He was det available to every team. Edm and Cgy were both in on him. The deal should have been something like
To Flyers-Schnieder, Edler and Hansen

To Vancouver-Coutourier, Simmons and 11th overall

For the return he got, one would think he was just waiving Schneider around last minute, trying to get any taker.

As much as I like Simmonds and Coots, I would probably bite on that.

Ouch. Man. That would've been...steep.

If you guys would've added the pick you used to take Shinkaruk, or maybe a second, though...

That is a blockbuster trade, if I've ever seen one. My only problem is how much older we get from that. We lose a 20 year old, a 24 year old, and an 18 year old; and get 3 27 year-olds in return.

Honestly I think the canucks would be losing that deal in value. Your getting 3 great players, all signed to amazing contracts.

I won't even lie: I'm as patient as anybody, but if somebody told me that I wouldn't have to worry about goaltending for 5-7 years and that the defenseman would fit our system better than who we have now...I'd listen.

I'm getting worn down by it all -- missing the playoffs last year, any year, is ridiculous. But Philadelphia isn't like some other cities who rebuild for 6 years, draft in the Top 5 like it doesn't matter that you've become a loser, a joke of a franchise.

For once since 1987, I'd like the freaking goaltending to be fixed. And it'd be nice to have a No. 1 defenseman again. The Flyers have done their best to address these things, and it's not certainly not their fault that Chris Pronger got hurt.

But yeah. One time, I'd like to know what it feels like to go into a season with a No. 1 goaltender AND a No. 1 defenseman. Just to remember what it feels like.

True, but still older by 19 total years. And a lot of people have different ideas of where a player's prime is. I personally think it's from 25 to 32. Defensemen, barring injury, tend to reach their prime a little later, and exit their prime a little later. So Edler could be just entering his prime, you're right.

I get that. But there is a good chance the pick nevesr develops and that Coutourier doesnt become the player we are all expecting. At least u know what your getting. Both teams take risk

edler has a chronic back issue, so that's a concern. I'd deal schenn, not couturier unless it were a higher level dman.

He's fine, had surgery to fix it. But hell I'll take B Schenn rather then couts

They need to be under the Cap including Pronger's contract to start the season. You also have Couturier in there despite him being traded.

The Flyers are already at the cap so trading $5.3m of salary for $10.3m of salary doesn't work.

I thought he said he'd be happy taking BSchenn instead? Also, that still had all of our current defensmen PLUS Edler, so undoubtedly we'd have $3.5-$4 less than that from the one Dman not used.

Last nights game was a painful one to watch. For about 10 minutes, the Flyers actually did play some hockey. I hate the trend they have for falling behind, and then trying to catch up, only to get tired or lazy afterwards. You really have to play a full game, and quit having just one decent period of play. I don't know if it's lack of leadership, or just the wrong attitude, but this is ridiculous. The best player of the game was Wilson for the Caps. Sheesh, he was kicking our butts up, and down the ice. Once the season starts, I hope that someone will take care of him during the game, and quit letting him hit our guys. Rosehill maybe? Anyway, I have a feeling that it might be a long season if the Flyers keep playing like they are. I hate to keep bringing this up, but those long contracts are player killers. As mentioned, no goalie can survive in goal with those types of games. Razor had a few miscues, but nobody showed him any support. I just hope that Grossman is ok. He looked shaken up with that hit early on. If he is concussed again, then who will replace him in the lineup? Come on Tuesday. I am keeping my fingers crossed that someone will show up for the game. By the way, who is next in line as our coach? Thanks for listening.

If the Flyers make that trade of Mez, I will be very happy. I prefer Gus over Mez simply because of his mobility. The Flyers have such a slow defense. It's like they all move in quick sand.
