just doing them a solid...like gautier and a 2nd for 2 slugs

I just can't agree with trading a decent prospect for less than full value so you can hang onto two goons.

Guess it could be worse. The Leafs trade Joe Colbourne to Calgary for a 4th rounder so they could keep Colton Orr and Frazer McLaren.

hmm... you'd think the Flames would only be going for prospects and picks, at this point.

EDIT: nevermind, I guess he's still an old prospect.

Colbourne for a conditional 4th is a very solid move for them. He probably makes the team, and plays third or fourth line.

Maybe I am off the mark here, but it looks as though the org decided that Laughton can't progress at the Junior level any longer, so they've decided to let Hall go and see how he develops here. Very similar to Cooter as others have mentioned. I don't like losing Hall, but it's the way they decided to go. Damn it's stupid players like Laughton can't be assigned to the AHL. Rosehill is the enforcer that they like to carry so he fits a specific role.

No, it's extremely likely that's what happened. I don't necessarily agree with it because, to be honest, I think Laughton looked better last year. I just haven't seen him anything to deserve a roster spot, right now.

That being said, what you typed is what the organization believes, and as such, I'll do my best to support the young player, and hope I'm proven wrong. Because that would mean the Flyers are seeing good progress from the player.

That's my view. The ELC is a secondary consideration, call it a "bonus feaure" to keeping him in the OHL.

The difference between Couturier and Laughton is, Couturier came into camp and flat out won a job. There was really no question that he deserved to make the team. Laughton didn't do that in my eyes. It's as simple as that.

And I honestly don't know how it became EITHER Laughton stays OR he won't develop further.

I have no idea how this has happened, with this player.

Yes, I think I've got to agree.

Nor do I.

He went from not being the best player on his junior team to not being able to develop further at that level over the summer somehow. Makes no sense at all.

If he had flat out won a job, I'd have little argument with it...I don't think he clearly won a gig.

Who has said he won't develop any further is he's sent back to Juniors? Doesn't it really come down to whether the Flyers feel he has won a job.
