The thing people are forgetting with realignment is that new teams might not make for a tougher schedule for those that were already together. If I'm Pittsburgh, I'll gladly take five games against WAS, CLB, and CAR instead of the eight I was playing PHI, NYR, etc in the previous format. Three less games against some of their old division rivals MORE than makes up for the challenge of new rivals.

The only teams the new divisions will hurt are the ones that were in garbage divisions before.

theres nothing to give back....plus no cap room, it would have to be martin and a pick if pens want both fleury and thomas... but a goalie swap might be a different story....

but in Shero we trust... so fleury will be the starter until he falters... and If, not when he does, then i have no idea what pens will do.... all i know is fleury will get them to playoffs who knows if he will be mentally ready tho...

well that's not completely true. first, it wouldn't cost much to get him. Thomas will be above 35, a back up goalie (IMO, if they were smart) and still be owed some money. Keep in mind, what he's making isn't his cap hit, he gets bonuses for being over 35. it would only count against the cap with what is owed to him. that's how we afforded iginla, morrow, and murray. between the 3 of them they probably had cap hits at about 13-14 million. but we didn't owe them that and it didn't count against the cap that much.

like the original poster said, I think Penguins and Thomas would be a great combination. Thomas could do a lot of good things with MAF IMO.

I think that's the key. He has been really impressive so far in the preseason. If he blew out a knee or something I think you guys would be done. I drafted Lundqvist & Schneider in my fantasy league

Ryder, Schneider, Henrique, Loktionov, Zajac, Zubrus, Brunner, Clowe, Larsson, Jagr, Elias...for us to be truly "done" more than 50% of the above has to be injured. Doesn't seem all that likely.

"You just have to read the game more carefully, make sure you’re coming back, be more responsible (defensively)," Elias said. "It’s different, especially depending on who you’re playing with. Sometimes it’s easy because you know that you can be aggressive because you know the other guys will back you up. With Kovy it’s tough because he has a hard time reading guys. So, I have to be the one responsible back."

Probably the most negative thing I've ever heard him say.

Precisely. I wouldn't count anyone out in our division. I think it's going to be completely out of whack and honestly don't think there are any clear cut front runners or teams I know are going to fail. The Pens certainly aren't as clear cut as everyone seems to think.
