Flyers top 9 is extremely over rated. They miss the playoffs again.

Philly's defense will be their demise. Too slow. Not break out capability, just like last year. Teams are going to forecheck them into submission.

Id say making the playoffs almost 15 years in row is relevant enough sure we havnt won a cup but at least we have made the cup finals in the last 20 years
- arnpriorguy

Maybe, but you were never a threat for the cup. You were consistently decent.

you'd think Jose Theodore would at least get a tryout
- ky678468

They should've, but that boat has sailed. I'm sticking with the idea that one way or another, the Isles will end up with Halak.

You give the Devils too much credit.

Agreed, flyers as well, Columbus gets no love or the Isles. I could see either Columbus and Carolina surprising. Especially if Ward and Bob stand on their heads. Vigneault will take too much time to get his head out of his ass despite Lundqvist. Caps aren't poope. Philly and Pitts GTing are poope...on par with MTLs. Toss up to win this pooptily named conference...(frank)ing metrosexual BS especially if Sidney gets smoked.

So let me get this straight. You think everybody is going to be in shock because every team is going to surprise except the Devils. I sense a little bias, sir.

If B Schenn doesn't show more he could possibly be moved to the third line. He needs to step it up. Only good thing is that he is still young.
- steveromanowski

Agreed. Matt Read looks infinitely more deserving of a top 6 spot right now.

Nah man we need a new coach. Our D would be fine with the right system, but this isn't that system.

Something needs to change. Having top end offensive players like G is great and all, but if the defenders can't transition quickly and send them on their way, they spend their whole games in board battles in their own defensive zone.

But we have talent in all of those places. On paper, we have one of the best top 9s in the league. To this point, we haven't seen them act like it. On paper, we have a lot of good individuals on defense. They seem like a pretty good D on paper. They haven't acted like it, though. The goaltending, on paper, doesn't seem great, but it doesn't seem bad either. But still, to this point they've barely even acted like average goalies. That sounds like a coaching problem, to me.

When you say on paper are you referring to players salaries?

Our defenders should be able to. Timmo and Streit are both great puck movers. Gus is emerging as a good OFD. Mez is a good two-way guy when he's healthy. Our system doesn't support a transition game. As soon as our Dmen get the puck, our forwards immediately sprint as far up the ice as possible, creating a long gap between them and the Dman. Then teams that recognize this (like NJ), just throw some forwards in there to get in passing lanes and pressure the Dmen. It's not the Dman's fault he has to make an incredibly hard breakout pass every time, it's the forwards. They give him no support.

I'm referring to stats. Almost everyone in our top 9 is capable of putting up 20 or more goals. There's no excuse for scoring 1 or no goals with as much scoring depth as we have.

That's something to hang your hat on...

So you are saying that in the last 15 years you have won as many cups as us?

So you guys been around 21 years or so now... 2 lock outs so lets say 19 seasons. We had 5 trips and four cups to show in that same amount of time.

No Will, I said that NYI, Canes and Columbus deserve a bit more respect. Canes, like MTL, if Ward shows up, and the other 2 because like TO (been away from the big OT forever and so they suck), people think of them being down, so thats where they stay, when in fact they aren't missing more than the favoured rivals (Pitt, NYR, Phi, Caps) in some respects. I don't remember saying anything about NJ, meh it happens, I guess they fall in with the 1st 3.
