Maybe Phil would be happier if the Leafs won more games and he put up more points alongside an actuall GOOD center..

He produced at the same level with Savard, who was a good centre. People questioned whether he would ever produce at that level again without him. They were wrong.
As for getting a number one centre now, try and find one. Anybody who has one is holding onto them. Getting one yourself in the draft requires a top 3 pick, because good number ones usually go that early.
Do you think Nonis should trade three quarters of his team for scrubs, just to be in a position to draft one. Then what, 6 years at the bottom of the league because all you have is a number one centre, then he goes UFA and signs with a contender.
Then there's cap considerations. Let's say we got a hold of a centre we realistically may be able to acquire....Stastny. First off, would he have chemistry with Phil? Second, his cap hit is 2.4 more than Bozak, so you wouldn't be replacing Bozak straight up for Stastny, you would be replacing (for example) Bozak, Kulemin, and Colborne for Stastny, Ashton, and a 22 man roster.
Not so clear cut a decision, when all aspects are considered.
