Kuli has to have a big year otherwise he's gone. - Arctic_AARDVARK
You could say that about a few of those guys. I could see him going even though he does fit well on this team. |

|
I've been saying it for over a year now that regardless of the Leafs cap situation it just doesn't make practical sense to keep Dion at anything close to what he'll get on the market.
This team has options long-term on D, there's no reason breaking the bank for a guy who, while decent, simply hasn't been the Norris material he used to be. - AngryWhiteMale
The debating about Phaneuf will never stop, unless he wins a cup or leaves. Still if he's gone that is a big spot to fill. |

Agree.
at 2.8 it just isn't practical. I honestly think that McClement is the only role player who gets an offer. It's obvious how irreplacable he is, but we're getting to the point where Kuli, and Bolland for that matter, are not affordable.
In the end those roster spots on the third line need to be economical. We have younger guys in the system who could maybe make a case for a spot, and actually opening up that spot is important to motivate them. Ashton and Biggs may be ready for third line duty next year. |

Meh,
If we get good goaltending it doesn't matter if we do or don't have Dion. |

How can you gauge a player like Bolland before he's played a season with us? Regardless, 2.8 isn't bad for a third line guy who can play top 6. In fact i'd say it's a right on par. |

You ig-nant. He's on the ice for near half an hour a game. It definitely does matter. |

So let's the cap is exactly 70, maybe that's high, maybe it's low. We need to resign
Phaneuf, Kessel, Franson, Gardiner, Reimer, Bolland, Kulemin, McClement, Raymond?, Fraser and Ranger.
Should be doable, might have to let one asset walk or trade them. We have about 36 to between them too if the cap is 70.
Phaneuf- 6 or trade
Kessel- 8 (worst case scenario)
Franson- 4.5
Gardiner-3
Reimer-3
Bolland-4
Kulemin-3.5
McClement-3
Raymond-3
Fraser-2
Ranger-2
That's 42, but I was pretty generous with a lot of those guys, still though it's hard to imagine a scenario where we get all those guys without a move. If we free up Liles contracts somehow and maybe move one of our cheap guys we will be good. - MapleLeafsFTW
I'd love to get all those guys back nest year, especially if we can get both Phanuef & Franson back. One ace up our sleeve is that if Bernier takes the #1 job, we can save up to $3 mill if we don't bring back Reimer. I mean I like Reimer but it might make good economical sense if Bernier becomes the #1 goalie. |

Kulimen for Okposo - Lindross_88
MEH. Leafs are solid in their top 6. We don't need Okposo. Kulemin is a great 3rd line player, he provides more of a need for the Leafs than Okposo. |

i doubt that. If Kuli would crash and bang a bit he would be a better fit. He looks lost, and now Grabo being traded, doesn't help. |

It's more a case of making room for younger players and giving them a chance to make an impact.
We have a guy like Colborne who deserve a legit shot to see if he can be that third-line guy next year. That wasn't a swipe or anything at Bolland.
I mean, what's the point of having and developing prospects if you're not willing to give them the chance unless they were drafted top 10? |

Well for the Leafs, I doubt Okposo would play on the 3rd line here. Our top 6 is full. Our only weakest link is Bozak, so unless Okposo can play better center than Bozak, he aint on Toronto's radar. |

Yeah without Dion instead of being 3rd last in shots against we'd be dead last.
Big freakin' deal. The guy gets big bucks to score, and yet Franson and Gardiner either will, or already have eclipsed him in terms of total points.
The one thing he has is his shot, which misses the net 90% of the time. |
