the calculation yields the cap midpoint, and the ceiling/floor are calculated from that number. i don't know the exact formula off the top of my head.

I know Leaf fans think he did well but he is just prolonging the agony. Franson got exactly what he wanted and that was to be arbitration eligible next year. I think many Leaf fans and others are going to be sorely disappointed when the Cap does not go up significantly next year and the Leafs Cap hell will remain with so many players to sign.

Nobodies tellin you the Oilers are screwed for the future, with 3 young players yet to actually deserve the ridiculous cheques theyve been cut (Eberle, Hall + Nuge) taking up a good 3rd of your cap lolll, and so many to sign in the near future. That will be far worse and less flexible than what the Leafs are going to deal with. McClement will be re-upped for the same number, Bolland will stick for a slight decrease, Kulemin will be traded at the deadline or he will walk next year, Gards will be given half of Kulemins salary lost, plus what he's already making, Reimer, will get the other half of Kulemins salary, Kessel will get a 3 mill raise, Phaneuf will get a decrease by 500k, and Franson will get a 2m dollar raise after we trade Gunnarsson and promote one of Rielly, Percy, Finn, Blacker, or MacWilliam, or 2 of both after letting Fraser walk. Its really not hard to see that this is manageable. However, when MacTavish is handing out goody bags to anybody with potential, i understand your worry .

Id rather have phaneuf over gunner in the long run.

So if you minus gunners salary, frasers salary, and liles salary. We will have enough $$ to sign dion and others. Percy, Rielly will eventually make the team. Gardiner and franson can be kept will be kept for long run as well.
