It's in order with the standings
- Oilers42

Once a team puts in a waiver claim, do they go to the bottom of the list or does the worst team always get first crack at it even if they picked up guys on the waiver wire already?

I love the idea of Unions, negotiating fair wages, promoting health and safety, humane work conditions, etc Unfortunately in some provinces (b.c.) they have become So strong that it takes a million documents to terminate the laziest most useless (frank)s who purposely do as little as possible. Protecting those bumholes makes me sour on unions.
- Jeropotato

That sounds pretty similar to Ontario. Paperwork for paperwork.

Not that we need to mention Hockey News on this male bonding site, but Gilbert signed with Florida today if anyone gives a (frank). Not bad, getting Thomas, Gilbert and Boyes for peanuts.

Yeah it sucks to lose out on a job your equally qualified for, but it seems that a lot of foreign workers are willing to take the sh1t jobs that snotty white people think are beneath them.

What is it with Newfies being good hard working hockey players? I think the Oil could use a guy like Luke Adam.
- nated81

They have to work hard, because they know there's nothing to fall back on in NL. Ever since the fishery died, they know they've gotta give it their all.

Pretty sure once you pick up you go to the bottom of the order. Not sure how common it is that 2 teams claim the same player, but I'm sure it has happened and the NhL has to rule based on the order.99% of these useless tits clear.

Same in NL... I'm assuming it's the same everywhere. Employees take advantage of it. Unions were a great idea and definitely needed... 50 years ago.

Classic Newfie answer to the age old question" how come there's no work in Newfoundland?"

"We did it all."

You know what kind of workers I hate in NL... City workers. It's ridiculous. You have like 20 guys on the side of the road, and there's always only 1 doing work. I say within a 40 hour work-week the average worker does maybe 1-2 hours of actual work... 2 is me being generous.

In all seriousness though, the people leading this province are (frank)-tards. At least half of the population are idiots.

Yeah, there's enough Government imposed regulations and standards that companies have to follow that they aren't so necessary anymore. Sometimes I wish I could fire people because they're fat, so I guess it stands to reason that peoe like me are the reason they're still around.

Was just thinking about the time Dubielewicz was signed buy the Islanders but had to clear waivers to play and Columbus picked him up. That's gotta hurt for the Isles at the time.

Road construction is notorious all over Canada for purposely dragging they're asses. That's all about keeping progress slow so the work doesn't dry up. Lots of shady poop in that industry between officials and contractors too. Mob has had their fingers in that poop for many, many years.

Oh yeah, that bullpoop about players that played in Europe whilst the nhl was underway have to clear waivers. Teams can get (frank)ed that way. Almost happened to the Flames last year in what would have been the biggest managerial brain fart in NHL history.

Yeah, their reputation for being the hardest workers in Canada was good about 15 years ago. Not so much now, but then you can say crack and crystal meth up in fort mac played a part in that.

Nah, they just to award the contacts to most most efficient contractors, not the ones that shell out kick backs to the road planning officials. Those (frank)s are so on the take. Think about it, with energy providers all being privatized, what does the government really own? The roads.

Is Acton not good enough? I know he's a rookie, undrafted, collegiate , AHL tryout guy who has never played in the NHL, but could not be as good as either? Or is it that he is unproven at the NHL level that worries you? He's looked competent and hard working in the pre-season.
- Jeropotato

I'm a fan of the SF-SA SF Attempt-SA Attempt tracking. It was something EDM seriously struggled with last year. Acton did poorly in the pre season. If you're doing poorly against a mix of NHL-AHL-CHL-etc players, I don't trust you'll succeed in the NHL. Why not Adam Hall? He's 6'2 210. Good in the dot and has actual NHL experience (600+GP)

Boyes named 2nd star in the game tonight with 1 goal in front of 12,547 (62.5% full).

when a player goes on waiver, are there certain teams get first crack or claim at the player or it's first come first serve?
- deks1

I always thought it was the lowest teams had first crack. I also think EDM gave up some waiver priority by picking Mac up

Oh yeah, I get the experience bit and if the stats are what the stats are I get that too ( don't think for a second I bothered to look that up, I leave that to the nerds), I just think with a guy like Adam Hall, there's no upside, he is who he is and nothing more. Guys like Curtis Glencross ,Ted Purcell and Pasqual Dupuis were total nobodies and they turned out pretty useful. I like the idea of taking a chance on a nobody because sometimes you never know. Either way, we ain't married to the guy, if he sucks, he sucks, enjoy the AHL.

Well if you're tracking SF-SA metrics, you should know exactly how abysmal Adam Hall was in that regard last season. That having been said, considering the competition he was facing, he was doing well "pushing the river", so to speak (16.1% OZS to 41.3% OZF).

(frank)ing 16% offensive starts! I know it was only in like 10ish minutes per game, but still. He got screwed!
