This may have already been covered (please forgive me if it has)... but Laughton is not able to play in a 9 game trial due to playing 5 last year to start the year. Its either back right away or Flyers all the way.
- jak521

After numerous man/woman hours of endless, tedious, tireless research, it had been determined that Laughts has another 9 games to play before he can be sent down.

We think.

So about that? We haven't been able to figure it out last I heard. No idea if he's eligible or not.
- FlyersGrace

Im about 95% sure that the pro-rated season only allowed for a 5 game max before decision. He went back to the OHL after playing his 5 games, which makes him ineligible for trial period this season.

The good news is that he has played very well of late, and TBH, having him with Hall and Rinaldo on the 4th line isnt a terrible thing.. Hall is a hell of a f/o guy that could certainly teach the kid a few things.

I still think Holmgllolr is mistaken on that. Or was further clarification found?

I read something about it a few days ago about the lockouts effect on that and how the 5 games count as 9 because it was pro-rated.. Ill look into it further.

Right, but the way I understand it, the CBA says he gets another nine game stint while remaining slide-eligible. I could be looking at the wrong section/missing a more applicable section of the CBA, of course.

I think this is the best evidence we have.

Schiefele played 7 games in 11-12 and 4 games in 12-13, but his ELC slid both years.

God i was hoping he would be sent back to juniors. Delay all the back and forth of "He is the next Brind'amour" vs "He's a bust" and the "He needs more top line minutes" vs "They rushed him" debates for another year.

You tell me -- he's the one talking about all the offensive talent we have, then pointing out a career season as evidence to back what he's saying...when the team that let him hit free agency clearly saw him as a 10-goal guy...not a 15-goal guy, because he's only hit that mark once, in his career season!

There are days when I can't believe the stuff I get asked -- Matt Read scored 24 goals playing primarily on the second, third and fourth lines two seasons ago. How is it that I'm being irrational by simply stating that, gee, maybe having a player like that around is better than seeing Maxime Talbot take 82 games to tally 25 points?

- AllInForFlyers

I aksed you a simple question. What scoring totals would satisfy you for a 3rd line player. Why doesn't Talbot have enough offensive ability to play on the 3rd line?
And you're making an assumption on why the Pens didn't retain Talbot.

Rumor is Crosby's jealousy over talbots stache was dividing the locker room

When you are choosing between Waffle and VanderSloot, it's an embarrassment of riches. Like choosing between a lambourghini, and a delorean.

Huh? Talbot grows a mean stache, Crosby cannot, thus the jealousy

If Holmgren was a marvel Character his name would be The Holm-Gobblin.

Giroux is obviously The Roo, with the powers of a kangaroo.

Talbot is Taly Bot, an evil robot built by the taliban.

Discuss amongst yourselves...

Sounds like I'm leaving behind a crappy Orioles season for a Flyer season that might rival it in mediocrity.

I'm not making an assumption. Do you honestly think that other people don't read, or can't read, anything other than what you read? Do you truly think that? I don't have to make assumptions -- people write stories about hockey teams every single day!

Talbot said -- and Ray Shero agreed -- that he wanted to see what was out there in free agency because the Pens didn't see him as anything more than a fourth-liner -- and because he was on the fourth line behind Cooke-Staal-Kennedy, he was right!

And because this is a crucial year for Sean Couturier's development, no, I do not think you can have a winger who has consistently struggled to put up points stifling his growth. That's why I wanted Daniel Cleary -- a clear-cut 40-point winger -- to come here.

That's what an ideal third-line winger looks like: Daniel Cleary. Is that so hard to freaking understand?
