Or maybe he won't run into the injury issues that Nodl did, and develop further. But it shouldn't be too hard to surpass Kalinski as a player! - MJL
so nodl is playing in europe because of injuries, even though it was kalinski who suffered one that he never really recovered from. glad raffl has absolutely earned a spot on the team. you've had a rough summer |

Uh, yeah. That's exactly what I said.
Brodeur was god awful and I don't think anyone blamed him. They couldn't score. - bradleyc4
Then I really missed something . If Brodeur was God awful, it makes sense to go out and get a goalie that isn't, so trading the pick (an unknown quantity) for a somewhat proven goalie isn't a bad deal. |

I've actually done that before and horn unless really well sealed really throws off the taste. It disrupts the smell of the brew...
So no, not my preferred method.

So you're going to swoop down and take away the dead? Should be a busy season for you. I think I saw you at comicon...

When did Lou say Kovy told him he was leaving before the draft?
They had a chance to acquire a (somewhat) proven yet young goalie instead of hoping they'd be able to acquire one in the near future or taking a shot on an unproven goalie who's still at least a year away in the draft and took it. They decided not to gamble. - jmatchett383
Kovy was telling Lou all year since he came back after the lockout that he would be leaving and told him once again at exit interviews. Lou said he was not surprised.
If its any other year, I wouldnt begrudge the decision. But really this draft was so deep, and NJ knew who was left on the board when they traded. Someone that could replace Kovy in a few seasons. They also did it 1 year before the deepest UFA goalies I can remember. And if they Didn't trade for Schneider, who is to say they couldn't do it later as well. I think he would still be with Vancouver and traded at the deadline. |

I'm just surprised, I never saw Lou say he knew about it. That's all. |

Hate memes, almost as much as I hate video blogs and twerking.
Still doesn't come close to "YOLO." I hope everyone who ever says "YOLO" goes and commits a hate crime in North Philly. I mean, you only live once, so gotta try everything, right? - jmatchett383
I don't hate memes if they involve girls wearing hockey jerseys w/ no pants or jiggling their cheeks...
I get your general gripe about Millennials, though.

Yeah, well, maybe they should score, every once in a while.
I've watched at least four preseason games this week, including New York-Vancouver last night. In any one of those games, you saw the leaders of those teams, the Top 6 forwards, doing what they get paid to do: Score goals.
Well, except one. Guess which team that was? - AllInForFlyers
That's just describing a symptom. Looking deeper into why they don't score more, or had trouble in 5 on 5 play last season, will tell you why Akeson is not the answer. |

The Gagne thing is another black mark on Homer's reputation. Gagne earned a re-up with the way he performed when he came back last season, and to be tossed aside for somebody who never even showed up? He brought back career backup Boucher THREE TIMES. Simon grew up with the Flyers, and deserved better, and would have been better for the team, as well. By way of comparison, cheaper than Jagr, faster, better on D. - element_104
Gagne didn't earn anything. The Flyers didn't owe Gagne anything. |

Amazing, isn't it?
But let the Flyers score one goal next Wednesday night. Trust me, the moaning will be loud and clear Thursday a.m., with everybody wondering where the goalscoring is.
Well, we should be wondering that now. - AllInForFlyers

Nodl established himself as an NHL player, and played some solid Hockey as a role player for the Flyers. Until he had the concussion issue, which he never seemed to recover from. Kalinski never established himself as an NHL player before or after his injury. And never really showed himselff to be an NHL player. And yes, Raffl has earned a spot on the Flyers. My Summer has been just fine Thank you! |

Andreas Nodl was a poor man's Patrick Thorsen without dropping to his knees and getting nailed in the balls. |

never said kalinski was anything more than a 4th line energy guy, while you were heralding nodl as a potential 20 goal scorer. kalinski had a gruesome injury and never made an impact after that. raffl's a bubble guy who may develop into a useful plyr who can be spotted on 3rd /4th lines. AHL time would likely help.
based on what i've seen this past summer, i think you should go back to replying w/o starting a new paragraph. it was a truer representation of your presence here. just start typing right after the "(/quote)". |

Kalinski had some good stuff for a fourth line guy. I was really sad to see him get injured like that. I thought he had potential like Wellwood. |
