At this point...well, I'd call him. Just to see what kind of shape he's in.

Are we really trying to argue that Daniel Cleary and Maxime Talbot are the same player?

Because if we're going to look at the lockout season as what a player truly is, instead of the seasons leading up to it, then we've got problems on this roster.

I'm not arguing that Talbot is old, broken down and well past his best. Just that Cleary is.
- Feanor

Huh. That old player sure looked pretty spry in the playoffs last year, and the Greatest GM to Ever Put Together a Team sure didn't mind bringing him back once he thought he was going to lose him.

But hey. Again, I'm just this crazy person who thinks Daniel Cleary could have helped the Flyers. Silly me.

Talbot is wealthy, but he's not out of control rich. Almost half of his salary goes to taxes and he isn't going to be making this kind of money forever.

No, No, No. It's neither a problem nor an issue because every team needs to have a 3rd line left winger. Your premise is incorrect.

Sadly I think that boat has sailed. What I don't doubt is that Holmgren has been on the phone seeing what we can get for Mez.

True, but I bet his investment portfolio is nice.
I always wanted to ask Betts what his retirement plan looked like.

EDIT: and no you foul minded beasts, this is not a euphemism.

DONT GET ME STARTED......

Really though, if he is smart he would never have to work another day in his life.

I'm not making an assumption. Do you honestly think that other people don't read, or can't read, anything other than what you read? Do you truly think that? I don't have to make assumptions -- people write stories about hockey teams every single day!

Talbot said -- and Ray Shero agreed -- that he wanted to see what was out there in free agency because the Pens didn't see him as anything more than a fourth-liner -- and because he was on the fourth line behind Cooke-Staal-Kennedy, he was right!

- AllInForFlyers

I'd be happy to take a look at that information. Stories are written about teams every day. What's written in them is not always fact. Talbot was getting 12-14 minutes a game as a Pen, including over 15 minutes a game in the playoffs in the 08/09 Season. Those totals are pretty high for a 4th line player. Those are facts.

And because this is a crucial year for Sean Couturier's development, no, I do not think you can have a winger who has consistently struggled to put up points stifling his growth. That's why I wanted Daniel Cleary -- a clear-cut 40-point winger -- to come here.

That's what an ideal third-line winger looks like: Daniel Cleary. Is that so hard to freaking understand?

- AllInForFlyers

There's what's ideal, and then there's reality. If you care to we can look at NHL teams, and see what point totals their forwards put up, especially those who play on the 3rd line. Last year is hard to compare, due to the shortened Season. But if we look at the Stanley Cup Champions from the two Seasons before, where a full Season was played. You'll find that 10-12 goals and 25 points for a 3rd line Winger is more then adequate for a good team. I'd be happy to provide those stats if neccessary.

You are the single craziest poster I've ever seen. Are you honestly telling me, and this board, that because you didn't read stories about Maxime Talbot -- the same guy who scored two goals in Game 7 to win Pittsburgh a cup, the same guy who signed with a hated divisional, cross-state rival -- wouldn't have been asked by a beat writer about WHY he's leaving, and the GM wouldn't be asked about why he left him leave?

You're telling me that those questions wouldn't have been asked, and answered, and reported? Seriously? I need to provide you with links to it, because YOU haven't read it and YOU don't believe it?

You know, somebody said it earlier: I need to just get away from this board. Because...wow. You are the most delusional poster I've ever seen.

No mention of Shea Weber or BOB RYAB?

You people are slipping, man.
