He also literally wastes 3 roster spots when he is dressed. They should have signed him to a 2 way deal so they could have him in Rochester until we really needed him - sbroads24
a 2 way deal means nothing. He would have to clear waivers if he was on a 2 way or a 1 way deal. The only difference a 2 way deal is they make less in the AHL |

Why? "4th line" is just a term. If we had 3 actual hockey players then it would just be a line of 3 hockey players. - sbroads24
Now you are looking like a fool. EVERY teams 4th line plays less. Even the Bruins who have what would be described as the best 4th line in hockey plays less minutes than the other 3 |

And what is your point? Some teams roll 4 lines. or move players from line 2 to line 4 and vice versa. In the playoffs last season Brian Bickell played on all 4 lines at one point |

For people saying Scotts presence made Milan Lucic "go away" in our games with Boston last season need to remember that Lucic had what most fans considered a disappointing regular season. He was benched at times. You don't need enforcers to strong arm the opposition. The resulting power play, goal, and an overall tough work ethic/demeanor gets the job done. |

No team rolls 4 lines evenly. Not one team in the NHL NCAA CHL role 4 lines evenly. Not even in the Olympics do teams roll 4 lines evenly. The Russians play Malkin and Ovi more the Canadians play Crosby etc more.
Brian Bickell is one person. His entire line didn't play 2nd line minutes. It doesn't happen. There will always be a significant drop off from your first line's minutes and your fourth line's minutes. There is almost as big of a gap between yours 2nd line and fourth line. |

explain how he wasted 3 roster spots...he is one man on a 23 man roster...if he were in Roch and we needed to call him up we would have to save a space (run w 22), waive someone else, send another young guy down, or put somone on IR ....i realize his spot could be taken by another youngster...but he's your 13th fwd...how many teams 13 fwd is contantly in the lineup baring injury...he's like an ICBM you may never need him..but he can be a useful deterrent |

Disappointing season yes but was still in the top 20 in hits (among forwards). Just not against the Sabres. Which is a big part of his game |

Again what is your point? That our rookies need 1st line minutes? Please explain why if we have 3 actual hockey players on our "4th line" why Girgensons or Larsson couldnt play 10 minutes with Porter or Flynn. You said we can't have rookies on the 4th line anyway, why? What is so bad about playing 10-12 minutes a night until you prove your worth more ice time. Unfortunately with Scott in the lineup it is impossible to ice 4 competent lines |

Why play them 10 minutes here when they would get 20 plus in Rochester? Girgensons especially needs to be on the ice more than 10 minutes a game. Everyone wants him to be a top 6 forward. How do you become a top 6 forward? Play top 6 minutes in the A and come in and play 15 plus minutes a game here. The 4th line doesn't get it done for him. He needs to play and play a ton of minutes |

Because they are better hockey players than Scott, Ellis, Mccormick etc. That's why. If we are trying to ice the best team, ice the best players |

Best team doesn't mean the best players. Best team means the right players in the right position and scenarios. Herb Brooks taught us that
Edit: The Rangers pre salary cap tried to buy the best team with some of the best players it didn't work. Every team needs their players to play their role. That's what Scott does. He plays his role |

I don't mean to sound like a d!ck. I just don't get the "rookies can't play on the 4th line" mentality. I understand someone like Grigorenko. Needs to be around skilled players, but Girgensons and Larsson could definitely handle 10-12 minutes a night here for a while IMO |

I think Girgensons needs to be around skilled players as well. He has more skill than people give him credit for. Larsson could play on the 4th here and work up to the third line but that's his ceiling |

Ellis is alredy in Roch....McCormick is on his way....
fourth line is Porter and Kaleta and Tropp when he comes back....scott replaces Tropp or a different guy when they need him two....yes he only plays 6 mins a night....but the other two can play more shifts w another guy or 2 double shifting thats how most teams that play an enforcer do it.....almost no teams have a strictly "enforcer" line any more |

Porter and Kaleta both deserve more than 6 min per night. |

give Larrson a little more Credit to...no he may never be a top tier scorer....but he has the work ethic, and has under rated skills....mostly likely a checking line defensive guy....but i think hi ceiling may develop into a Peca-esq player gritty, determined...good on pk and faceoffs and can score in the 20's a year in the right situation....Minnesota was not happy to lose him but that was Darcy's asking price. |

I think he will over achieve his whole career. Kind of like a Ryan Callahan type |

and they will get it...Scott sits most of those shifts...they still play...and Ott and otehr double shift so Scott gets maybe 3-4 mins they play 10 many teams do that |

And on the flipside Ott shouldn't be double shifted. He takes way too many penalties. |

I'd like to see Vanek get double shifted on a line with Girgensons and Girgorenko. Play those two with him and watch their confidence soar |

That line would be fun to watch
Vanek-Grigorenko-Girgensons
Foligno-Ennis-Stafford
Leino-Larsson-Ott
----4th line-----
How about that? |
