Yeah but Brian Murray is arguably the best GM in the league. If he sees more value in Stepan than his own player development team... he would of made an offer sheet. Problem is, his hockey sense is not willing to let go a first round 7th overall pick, a possible sleeper pick in Pageau and one of the best second line centers in terms of value for quality for someone who simply provides secondary scoring. Sens would trade those for a primary scoring player, but not secondary. - PtotheY

no, he wouldn't have made an offer sheet, because like you said, you already have like 5 nhl-quality centers fighting for 4 spots. additionally, no GM in the league wants sather with his access to James Dolan's checkbook as an enemy.
how's da costa doing btw? |

No, he would not have, for the same reason you shouldn't start a fight with someone 5 times your size. Are you kidding me? |

Turris @ .44 ppg.
But no worries, Kyle Turris now making 300k more than Stepan, is better. And he's produced less. But he's still better.
- blacksheep1
If you at least knew the playing conditions of under 7 minutes ice time that Turris played with coyotes for his first two years. You wouldn't be too quick on judging him by his point production. I can safely admit that I expect Turris to produce as many points as Stepan this year, especially considering he has a legit wingman to play with (McArthur).
But...just like your comments... these are just my opinions. |

i put tavares up there with malkin, stamkos, crosby, ovechkin.
again, you severely underestimate the extent as to which those guys you classify as 1st tier elite guy's teammates help them. - rangerdanger94
That may be true but the fact is, when its done on paper, thats when its truly done. An arbitrator at this point in time is not going to award Tavares with a salary anywhere near what Crosby Malkin Ovechkin make because he's simply not considered the same tier of player. Regardless of the circumstance, he just hasn't DONE it yet. Can he? Would he with better linemates? Sure, possibly. But who knows? The fact is, this conversation started with Stepan's #s vs Tavares #s, anything else is both sides just speculating what ifs. I'm the only one thats sticking to the numbers and to what each player has achieved on paper. |

I respectfully disagree. Tavares is probably the 3 or 4 best player in the world right now

In his 2 seasons with the sens. 48 points in 97 games. Derek Stepan 95 points in 130 games. Turris .49 ppg, Stepan .73 ppg. |

He's not better than Crosby, Malkin, Stmakos, Oveckin. He's in the group right after that. |

well I ain't here for trouble nor comparing both teams. Some people here just bash on the fact that I had made an original comment on someone suggesting an offer sheet by Ottawa. If you'd really know anything about Ottawa, you'd assume this to be a joke. I am just contributing to a post... but hey I am honored that I was able to touch your emotions to the point you needed to make a post on this.

He's not better than Crosby or Malking...(thats a tier on its own), but he's defenitely as good as Ovechkin and Stamkos.

No he's not. Agian if you want the numbers, (which clearly aren't your strong suit.) I can give them to you. Tavares will eventually be an supersstar talent, but he's no their yet. |

Saddened to hear of the death of Denis Brodeur, Marty Brodeur's father. Interviewed him a few times over the years and he was a quality man. |
