guys who make over $5 million need to do more than play physical to be a fan favourite, especially in places like Toronto and Montreal. - scotch_tape
Dozzer doesn't agree with us on that. Take this:

|
Two things...
1) when did Holzer get demoted
2) Tucker finally comes off the books next year |

Some one said it well recently. They said that defenseman are rarely the "heroes" in games so the fact that a player can just be technically sound and defensively safe doesnt get the same praise as a guy who can make some nice dangles. (IE: Gunnarsson) - markmark
i'm confused.. i dont believe i have ever heard gunnarsson and nice dangles used in the same sentence |

he'll punch in 18-20 goals.. fight and hit
and the fans will love him
this is toronto.. he plays the exact type of game that the fans love here.
honestly.. wouldnt be overly shocked to see phaneuf moved and clarkson made captain |

on waivers for sure.. might even be a trade there..
but nonis is in tough.. other GMs know he's got to send some guys down who get exposed. - Dozzer
So if a team puts a player on waivers, who gets 1st crack at him if the year hasn't started?
That's how a trade will get done, if Calgary wants somebody but 10 other teams have 1st crack at waivers, they would trade for him....no? |

that's what I figured..so a chance we could still make a trade if Calgary or whoever is worried Edm or whoever was 30th will scoop him.

People were saying that his skating was one of his biggest assets and I dont see it personally...I see a stay at home guy who can move the puck without having to skate too much and plays the body just enough. Nothing fancy or special...has a decent point shot...but I dont see skating to be his strongest asset. - Colin Dambrauskas
And thats exactly what this team needs. A defense man the team can trust and rely on to make the smart play at all times. He knows his limits and is responsible. |

Oh I know...I'd be willing to gamble...but doubt Nonis would. Who are your bottom 5 teams? |

Well given where Calgary ended last year, there wont be 10 teams ahead of them in the waiver wire. |

Question related to next season and UFAs:
Will Nonis be more interested in resigning Captain Phaneuf and Kessel (combined 14-15million cap hit) or go for the alternative of:
Orpik (4)+ Girardi (5.5) + Callahan (6.5) UFA Signings.. (16m combined)
Personally I would very much prefer the 2nd scenario.. |

Toronto snagging top UFA's - not a good track record. IMO a big gamble. |

Morning, fruitcups.
Let me axe you a question: does anyone know of a good website I can send around to parents of Novice girls that explains simple hockey rules like offsides and icing?
I'm looking for a Peter Puck for the cyberage resource.
Thanks. |

having 3 mediocre players or two top level players for a million less.
hmmm...
Also, predicting who's going to be a UFA from this point in time is pretty useless. |

If that's from capgeek, then it's just them projecting our roster. Leafs are still sitting with 18 forwards, 10 defensemen and 3 goalies as of now. We'll see how things shake up over the weekend but expect...
Trevor Smith, Troy Bodie, T.J Brennan, Korbinian Holzer and Drew MacIntyre on waivers, with the potential of J.M Liles if we decide to keep Rielly
Leivo, Devane, Broll assigned to Marlies and perhaps Rielly assigned to Moose Jaw.
Could see a 4th line of Ashton Colborne and Orr. Move McClement onto the 3rd line with Bolland and Kulemin, Raymond to Clarkson's spot while he's suspended. |

UFA market is a roll of the dice.
Dice could turn up Orpik. then what?
