I am not so sure....it's a pretty risky gamble to take with your franchise player. If he did bolt, it would be devastating to this team. Why delay anyway? I mean, it's not like he has anything left to prove. If he is willing to sign extension now then why not just do it and get past the whole gamble part of this. Kessel isn't going to take a pay cut and pretty much what he wants will be what he gets so the Leafs should just sign him now and lock it up. I just don't see the point in waiting till the "final hour".
