Actually funny story...when we first got him when we lived in the apartment I didnt have time to buy a dog kennel/crate for him so I took a 4 foot high piece of plywood that I used to block him in the tiled kitchen thinking any messes he made I could easily clean...on my way out the door he was right behind me, I said noooo way....he was only around 20lbs at the time. So I had this baby gate thing used to close off door ways/stair cases that I fixated to the wall slighty above the plywood and then proceeded to try and leave the house again...he managed to jump up and squeeze his head between the (maybe) 6 inch gap I had left and separate the two even further, enough to pull himself over the plywood.

Next day, I bought him a crate which was your normal hard plastic crates made for dogs up to 40-50lbs....he separated the top piece and bottom piece by forcing his way through. I had to screw the pieces together and tie down the corners....seriously...for a 20lbs dog at the time.

I think with his previous owner he became very anxious about being left alone as even to this day, 5-6 years later, he will follow you around the house any time you move.

We had Prince, an abnormally large one, with tattoos and papers.. but 122lbs of lean mean dog.. He was a awesome specimen of a dog.
