I get that, but Franson will not be playing bottom pairing when he is making 4 million per year as he should. He will be in our top 4, as will Rielly next year for sure. Where does that leave Gunnarsson?
- ThePresident

Then it sounds like your odd man out is Gards, not Gunnar.

Listening to Watters now.

"Liles! No good!"

"Colborne. No good!"

"Bozak, 3rd line!"

Gee Bill, tell us how you really feel

- gravyface

Well, at least this is a rare instance when he's actually correct on 3 out of 3.

quit your garthing.
- doinktheclown

just the fact that you are trying to compare me to garth is enough for me to stop talking about clarkson.
the fact that you created a new verb is pretty awesome though.

He goes, "I don't know what I missed in New Jersey... Clarkson is not tough... "

then to wrap it up: "Clarkson is a tough player, but he's not a fighter"

- gravyface

has 87 fight.... or something like that

get that old fart off the radio

The Flames do not need goaltending. Its basically impossible for anyone to sit here and say they are weak in terms of goaltending as Berra and Ramo have yet to play and Ortio + Brossoit are looking to have a ton of potential as well.

Kiprusoff, btw, was brought in to the Flames in a VERY similar situation as Ramo. Look it up...he was a nobody who came from overseas, Vernon went down and he stepped in and stole the show. No one had expectations for him. Point is, dont count guys like Ramo/Berra out just because you havent seen them play.

- Colin Dambrauskas

Kiprusoff had NHL experience, and was actually somewhat touted...Ramo on the otherhand, and Berra, they're nowhere near close to Kiprusoff. The Flames knew what they were getting in Kiprusoff, they traded a 2nd....not exactly a nobody. As a flames fan, hypothetically, what would you offer up in a trade for Reimer.

They don't. We dont need Fraser or Franson.
Gunnar is a top pairing D on this team. No replacements have been identified.

Your top 4 is (frank)ing atrocious

So who you think is gone? Colborne will not be enough cap free to have ashton in the lineup. So it would have to be one of liles or fraser

Tell me how it is selfish to think, "my teammate is in trouble..." proceeding to help his team - all rules aside. It's not selfish, but it was stupid.
- A_Tree

clarkson forfeiting half a million dollars of his own money is an extremely selfish thing to do.

what planet did you grow up on?

Top 4 PMDs he meant, I think. They all need a Gunner to play beside them

Maybe we could steal Methot from Ottawa in the next year or so then Gunnet could go.

Ranger should improve especially after 30 or 40 games.

Let's wait until the 1/2 way mark for many of the leafs - some getting better some going backwards

I'm still interested in knowing if he's a 3rd liner, terrible signing, or if his 10 game absence will cost the Leafs points?

Another cave. When are these agents going to figure out that the team holds the leverage on non-arb RFAs and that's just the way it is. Sign the bridge, kick ass, cash in. No more of this holding out BS, it doesn't work.

I like that.

Phaneuf, Gunnar
Gards, Ranger

for me.
But I could certainly deal with yours. As long as Gunnar is there and Franson isnt in the top pairing, I'd be okay.
But for yours, I still think Franson is an unknown to play more minutes against better players. Give him a shot, but I'm not convinced he can do it.

he is not a flames fan, he is a leafs fan. Highely unlikely Reimer gets dealt to the flames, because surely we would be looking for at least a Bernier kinda return.
Just for a laugh i'd guess it would have to be

Backlund, Berra and a 2nd for Reimer

If you would give up Gardiner over Gunnarsson, you're out of your mind. The ceiling on Gardiner has yet to be reached, Gunnarsson is Gunnarsson. Gardiner has the potential to be a bonafide top pairing defenseman, Gunnarsson is a filler until somebody else comes and grabs that spot, which will happen as the younger guys continue to develop their all around games.

Franson at this point in time is better than Gardiner, offensively and defensively

Phaneuf, Rielly and Franson can't all be in the top 4. IF Franson has a good year defensively than Rielly will come in as a 3rd pairing I would think.

Nope, he meant top 4 top 4.
He calls Gunnar is needless. I call him insane.

I agree with holding out for final opinions. It's way too murky. But i know where i stand until things change. I'm always willing to admit my wrongs and change views. Prove me wrong Fringsoon
