What does Giroux make? 8? Sign Kessel for 8@8 and put it behind you. It may seem like an overpayment now, bit he'd still be in his early 30s when it expires.
- BetterCallSaul

he would be turning 27 just as the contract kicks in. when it ends, he'll be 35.

I'm getting pretty confident that Bolland, Kuli and Dion won't be getting great contract offers.
- AngryWhiteMale

Bolland likely will. 27 year old who was a key cog in two Stanley Cup wins.

Leafs have $30M going into next year.

Phaneuf eats up around 6
Kessel eats up around 7.5
Franson eats up arond 3.5

Leaving $13M for Bolland, Kulemin, McLement, Raymond, Colborne, Fraser, Gardiner, Ranger, Reimer

Uh yeah...thats going to be tricky.

- Colin Dambrauskas

Kessel likely gets north of 8.
Can't see Phaneuf taking a pay cut.
McLement, Colborne, Fraser and Ranger....meh. Dime a dozen.

I'm guessing Reimer or Bernier will not be here next year.

They just keep oozing as the ice expands. You can't put it down for a second wihtout making a mess or waisting beer...and you can't drink them fast enough to stop the process.

leafs were 2nd on the PK last season, 2nd...were usually 2nd from the bottom.

mcclement is a PK animal.

Pietrangelo's 6.5m cap hit is going to help the Leaf's cause in not giving him a raise. That 6.5m cap hit contract he has expiring was signed coming off two straight Norris nominated seasons. I don't know how anyone could argue he hasn't regressed since those seasons.

Good point.
I do expect a better year from Dion with less ice time.

They'll need the cap space, and perhaps will want to give others a chance to move up the system.

It'd be terrible if we had one of the best d-men in the league returning at a good price.

I hear they're even thinking of keeping one of the league's best snipers!

No confidence in this management group.

I have a feeling that if they can fit both, then they'll keep them around for one more year to really decide what to do.

Then again there are a couple teams in Alberta who would be willing to pay a pretty penny for a decent starting goaltender, so perhaps we cash in.

I miss him for the Avs, but he wanted Top 9 minutes, and he couldnt leap frog anyone in our Center depth.

Franson and Gardiner will both get more points than Dion this year.

I'm pretty confident of that.
