He did fine with two signings. - Fakepartofme
He will be ok. We need to give him some slack. Not 5 years of slack, but some. |

No matter how you look at it.....Nonis is horrible at cap management.
This is not even a cup contending team and they can barely do a 23 man roster. - Fakepartofme
Everyone is in this situation man. Pittsburgh is over cap. Philly and Boston go under with Savard and Pronger's LTIR, San Jose is over a mill. Detroit has to send like 4 forwards down to Grand Rapids to squeeze under |

I agree, Kulemin does a lot of the little things that often go unnoticed. Strips guys of the puck a lot, cycles well, gets rid of the puck in bad scenarios. He just needs to get his offense back to a 3rd line calibre cause of late, its been 4th line good. - Colin Dambrauskas
yeah, I agree...the other night against Ottawa he charges hard into Ottawa end, strips the puck and causes a scoring chance...and I'm thinkings "he's back" and then 10 minutes later, he does some bonehead play not that hurts us...but we missed on a opportunity to have a scoring chance |

Carlyle loves his mistake free play and the fact he can trust him in all scenarios. - Woderwick
1 of my favorite players, but he's been far from mistake free. I found the last 1.5 years he makes some stupid passes trying to get out of his end. He is the best forechecker in the league and should not be given up easily. He's a beast at forcing turnovers..give him a few games to get adjusted to his new linemates...and hopefully Bolland has a career year with him. |

I think he's referring to the fact that there will be a bunch of guys looking for a raise at the same time. There won't be a ton of room. - Woderwick
There wasn't a 'ton' this season and not only did Nonis get everyone signed, sealed and delivered, he added Raymond.
I have complete confidence he will get everyone signed who needs to be signed. |

This team is solid. I wouldn't count them out.
Any team with some bounces in the playoffs can do damage. We are better than last year I believe and we almost bounced The Big Bad Bruins |

are assuming they re-sign Phaneuf or let him walk? - scotch_tape
I'm assuming he signs for market value which is less than he is currently making. |

There will be anxious moments in here come this time next year...no doubt. Unless a few of the young guys are ready to graduate. |

Yeah, there's just no capspace left plus he'd be the 7th or 8th defenseman now. We have to move Liles for us to keep him on board |

No reason to think that a couple guy's wouldn't be ready..Imo Percy and Rielly could have made this team now..
U may get away with sending Rielly back this year but unless he takes a step back he has a real shot next season.. |

Back in July most expected it would take 4+ million to sign Franson..after Kadri signed it was 3 million. the 2 mil he signed for is a steal, in a full season this guy might have hit 55 points! |

Agreed, they would have just traded his rights in that case... no cap exceptions in the NHL |

According to CapGeek, we demote Smith and Holzer and we have a 22 man roster and 333K in cap space. This assumes that McLaren and Orr are in the lineup opening night. - gravyface
Nonis and Poulin already said that CapGeek IS NOT accurate. Close...but not accurate.
Suspicion is that a few of the contracts listed have a "bonus clause", so not all guaranteed money. As a result, those bonuses can be rolled into next years cap instead of this year, thus giving Leafs MORE cap space in 2013-2014 than CapGeek states.
