I see it going like this.. Flyers come out with a little more pizzazz and get the first two goals.. Jersey gets a goal right towards the end of the period off of a failed clear..

2nd and 3rd period the Devils play like the Devils normally play, blank the Flyers the rest of the way and tie it midway through the 3rd.. Goes through OT and to a shootout where the Devils win with a 3-1 goal advantage.

Glad you brought this up. I seem to remember Emery being ok in shootouts, but I have no idea how Mason is?

I don't know, I'm just not seeing the Raffl craze. I mean, he looks good positionally and seemed to do a decent job forechecking, but he doesn't seem to have ANY offensive pop. I haven't really seen Vandevadenbrockstein at all, but I really think Raffl could use some AHL time.
- jmatchett383

I see him getting pushed off the puck easily as well.. My preference would be to send Laughton back, and pick VDV or Raffl for the slot. I did look at the roster on the Flyers site and it has Laughton, and Raffl listed with numbers as well as Lauridsen. No sign of VDV. May mean nothing..

I'm calling it right now: Flyers win this one 4-2 with an empty netter from Luke Schenn. Other goals from Giroux, Coots, and Read. Shots are 31-22 Flyers.
- jmatchett383

So they've scored 11 goals in 5 games but they're going to pot 4 tonight against Jersey? Have you been watching the ineptitude?

It might just mean he doesn't have a Flyers contract at this point.

Exactly. At least Emery has played well.

unless ROFL has a real bust out, I would go w/ talbot on the 3rd line. not ideal size, but he has every other attribute...coots increased strength helps here as well.

I thought Mason looked shaky in London but other than that, what I've seen and heard has been solid in goal.

I thought the Talbot/Couturier/Read line looked great. I'd like to see that line to start the Season. We have to remember that not only is Raffl an NHL rookie, but he's also adjusting to the NA game and the smaller rink. For a guy in that situation, he looks very promising to me.

I only saw him in the London game, and he did struggle. Win or lose, I want him to play well tonight. If he does, I think we're going into the season solid in goal. Casual fans will have trouble justifying blaming the tenders if we struggle.

The entire team looked shaky in the 1st 10 minutes of that game.

I would have liked to have seen Mason stop Raymond's breakaway goal, but whatever.

it's in the team charter that their goalies are not allowed to stop breakaways.

LOL, I thought we had blaming the goalie for all of our problems out of our system!

Giroux had one good year. Don't know why he even gets a mention let alone no.10...

Despite what Lavy has said, I don't think Giroux is the top dog or top 3 in the league, but definitely top ten with his performance the last two seasons.

For that one year I think he was a top three talent in the NHL. I think top ten is a bit of a reach. Top 50 for sure.

Debateable for sure but I think he's no doubt top 50 and I don't think the 11/12 season was a flash in the pan so I think he's top 10.

Another in a long line of excellence... from Andy Delmore to Randy Jones to Oskars Bartulis to MA Bourdon to Erik Gustafsson to Oliver Lauridsen... sets my heart aflame.

Danny Syvret was the real deal. Did you watch the 01/01/10 Winter Classic?

Hahah I was gonna say that. Leighton and Syvret almost got it done.

I'll gladly trade the too many men non-call in that game for the too many men call in Game 7.

I know they didn't win The Cup that year, but that is probably the most exciting playoff series in Flyers' history.

You know a player is good when 48 points in 48 games is considered a bad year.

That game by Syvret was probably the single greatest game by an NHL veteran who never exceeded 60 games played in the NHL.

I don't know, he only posts a 1.90 Pts/GP in the playoffs (1.74 if you removed the Pens series). Not really that good.

Stepan and Kadri scored at a 75 point pace last season and had to settle for two years at around $3 million.

BSchenn is going to have to have a great year if he wants a deal as good as they got.

It's more fun to pretend that he's going to get a 6 year/$36 million deal and wreak havoc on the Flyers cap situation.
