I just found out the Baby Pens are playing in Rochester tonight. If I can clear my schedule I will be attending that instead of watching the NHL guys tonight.

Let me know who you want info about.

C'mon people...

Of course Jarome Iginla can easily move to the left side... Any NHL forward can play the right or left side. Do most players have a preference? Of course. But to make it sound like a hall of fame player can take a pass on his backhand, or a guy who scored 500 goals can't figure out the angle when coming down the left side is ludicrous. Heck, he has scored a lot of goals from the left side in his career, especially on the power play.

There is a little adjustment on the breakout taking pucks of the boards, etc., but some of you guys make it sound like in 16 years of NHL hockey, Iginla never crossed to the other side of the ice.

He played well enough in Pittsburgh when used on PP, but just didn't mesh well with Malkin & Neal. Maybe it was the lack of foot speed or not being able to read those two well, but the chemistry wasn't there.

H probably should have gotten a longer look on Sid's right side, but Sid's injury in Jarome's first game sorta screwed up any experimenting that could have been done. You don't want to experiment with lines a couple of games into the playoffs, and Sid was going back to who he felt comfortable with after missing more than a month.

Not using Iggy's best asset (right handed bomb) on the PP was Bylsma's worst decision.

I'm still ticked off that the WBS Pens aren't playing any games here in Albany this season. Albany has two "home" games against the Pens, but they are being played in Atlantic City.

Besides seeing the guys play, the new head equipment manager for the baby Pens is an old friend that I've lost touch with, and I was hoping to get some cool gear lol.

Any potential call ups at forward would be nice to hear about.

Question:

Is Ryan Jones @$1.5M/per better than Tanner Glass @$1.1M/per?

The guy in on waivers.

Glass is your Duper this year.....

NH you may have some competition for a petition against a player

I don't think so

Mr.Wilson knows what he's talking about. He's just trying to make things interesting.

BTW, ChrisMS I'm with you on the Iginla deal. I trully think he was misused by Bylsma as he neither gave Iggy a chance on the RW with Geno/Neal or on Crosby's line....plus, he took Iggy's effective shot from the PP.

It seemed like Iginla and Neal on the same line was duplicating what we already had. Iginla is far from the physical player he once was and seems to be one dimensional now.

Nothing but good things to say about him. Classy guy.

- Orpik44

Thanks!!!!!!! I am in the opinion that Iginla should have been able to play either wing... HOF winger should be able to. That has nothing to do with Chemistry though... and Iggy/Malkin/Neal didn't have it. I would have rather seen iggy on the third line, or kunitz bumped to the second than what we saw. The worst part was that no adjustments were made.

I definitely agree with you on this one.

My two cents on the subject.

I switch between LW/RW often to fill in for injuries during the 13+ years I played hockey. I didn't have much of a problem with it, but I didn't play at near the level these guys play at. With all the skill it takes to play in the NHL, minor changes have a much larger impact on a player.

In theory, I feel like Iginla should have been able to switch to LW without much of an issue. But, I look at how James Neal performed when he was first brought over to the Pens and it makes you second guess that. I hope that Shero/HCDB would have given him the heads up that he would be playing mostly LW before they acquired him. I would think he gave the OK on that before they brought him over.

I like Iginla, but did not like the trade from day one. He does not fit in the system that the Pens play. He will fit in much better in Boston and likely have a great season.

And no, BB was not taking a shot at him. Why would he? Iginla is a class act all the way.

To the first question....no.

To the second statement....of course he is going to say that. He wants to make the team in any position possible.

Finally...I think Iginla has earned to right to want to play the position that he played in several all-star and Olympic games. Don't you?

He literally states he doesn't think Beau Bennett intended it as a slight. The question is just a framing device for a blog about the two players and their different outlook and results on switching wings.

The entire point of the blog was if Bennet was taking a shot at Iginla, which was a question only this pathetic blog was asking. Its not being debated anywhere, he deliberately posed a misleading question for the title of his blog in order to get hits. The quote itself is taken from another persons article, another Hockeybuzz specialty. No one thought that he was taking a shot at Iginla, only this blogger. It is a complete pull it out of my azz question that no one else was asking. The fact that he says Bennett didn't intend it as an insult is because it wasn't. He was asked a question and answered it. Period. Iginla is only brought into the conversation to attract attention and hits, its a troll title, nothing else. If you want to compare them then compare them, don't try to manufacture a controversy to get readers. It would be nice if i could read a blog about another team without relentless homerism and bloggers that flat out troll in their blogs and comment sections.

Yea, no not at all. Still should be with Sid but we wouldn't want to upset him just let him make the lines. I'm not going to criticize Bylsma for lines this year because Sid has decided he wants to play this these two people so it basically handcuffs Bylsma.

I think he blossomed a few years ago and has been slowly wilting away. He probably will play better there if that's what you are suggesting because they don't play as fast as the penguins.

Division III, NHL...same thing. Lol just messing with you gunner. But if you know the fundamentals of playing wing you shouldn't be "out of position" playing on the opposite wing you are used to. It really is a simple position.

But a nice start by the pens this period. Still preseason, but that's how I like to see them play.

"Fleury hasn't had to do anything crazier over the top good but he hasn't done anything horrible either" ......so I guess that's how we're going to judge the way he plays this season. Well, he didn't play horrible...

Kunitz must have seen the Malkin breakaway slapshot that was posted in here, what a shot.
