Nonis really wanted 2 yrs. next yr off season is going to be messy. 4 D alone into free agency but at only 2 M for this yr. you gotta do that deal.

I don't think the upcoming signings are necessarily going to be that messy. If Ranger is halfway decent, he'll be looking for something like 2M/year I would guess... if he struggles, the dollar amount will be lower.
in short
Ranger, 1.5 - 2.5 for two years - could be negotiated at any time during the year - advisable after New Year... both sides will see trend
Fraser 1.5 - 2.0 (at most) .... see Ranger commentary above
Phaneuf - 5.5 - 7.5 based on term dollar combo - he's not really much of CAP concern either, he's already at 6.5...even a raise to 7.5 (which I don't think he'll get, represents only a 1M CAP hit) I think the guy loves playing in Toronto, loves the attention and really enjoys being captain.
Franson and Gardiner are both RFAs... and as recent past has shown, they don't have much leverage. In Franson's case, he'll need to score at 40-45 points pace over 80 games to justify any large raise.... and Gardiner will only get sufficient ice time (based on his sporadic defensive coverage) to allow for a certain amount of upside.
Nonis has all the cards in all this conversations because of
1) Reilly
2) Blacker
3) Percy
