Real quick question for my Toronto based fellow hockeybuzzers, I'm coming up for Opening Night, from Long Island. I'm looking for a good place to stay, but at the same time not too overpriced. I'm in between two different places, just not sure of the locations. 1 is located in the Annex (Bathurst Street), the other on Jarvis Street right near Maple Leaf Gardens kind of....which area is safer, better to see more of what Toronto has to offer? Advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Annex is better unless you want easy access to crack-addled hookers. Annex has lots of restaurants, nice residential area, etc. Easy to get to ACC by subway. It's much nicer.

I'm glad Franson is singed up now, it's the difference between us making the playoffs and a lotto team.

All that fussing on a contract for a 1yr $2mil contract? I don't mind the deal, but they couldn't come up with that earlier? lol

It's called leverage. I don't think you understand the concept.

Nonis really wanted 2 yrs. next yr off season is going to be messy. 4 D alone into free agency but at only 2 M for this yr. you gotta do that deal.

The Annex. Nice neighborhood. You're within stumbling of the Madison Pub there, which was Wendel Clark and Dougie's watering hole back in the day. I think Wendel lived in the annex, if I'm not mistaken.

Messy maybe. But Franson is also a very moveable asset if need be.

Me, he's around for 2 preseason games and he waited till the last minute. He tried to wait till the Leafs caved.... No dice.

Brady is saying Franson is UFA next year, but everything I've seen is RFA. He wanted 1 year to go to arb.

I don't like Brady's schtick at all. Annoying as hell on radio. I listen to Richards in the morning. And yes, he is RFA.

The Annex, most definitely. Beautiful old houses, university neighbourhood. Jarvis near MLG is good if you want to go cruising the gloryholes in boytown (NTTAWWT), or perhaps sample some of the local artisanal smokeable cocaine.

Alright, fair enough. It still was Wendel and Dougie's after game spot.

Yes, RFA. Because he signed a one year deal (instead of two years, which Nonis wanted), he gets his arbitration rights which, if he has another good year, could cost the leafs a chunk of change.

One of many players who have that much of an effect.

Nice compromise from both sides.

I understand it perfectly well.

I know he wanted more money on short term and Leafs wanted 2 years. Just seemed weird that the Leafs were the ones who went to Franson's agent and said "fine we'll do the 1 year but only at 2million or less" and they accepted. After all that fighting for 1 year and a lot more money I'm surprised it just suddenly happened at such a small contract compared to what they wanted
