Fair enough. I suppose for the most part Stepan isn't really the two-way centre we need. That guy's name is Martin Hanzal and I'll just pre-empt everyone before the get into it: Hanzal, So Hot Right Now. Hanzal
Our D looks better than our forwards for the moment but I'll agree in the go-ahead we'll need some higher end talent. Will it be Nurse and Klefbom? The bright side is that they and Fedun have shown that it's pretty safe to ditch Nick Schultz after this season with little to no consequence. - Morris
I still think Schultz gets the short end of the stick. Curious to see what he does this year. |

Perron has 5 goals on 6 shots this preseason. Obviously this shooting % will be sustainable throughout the entire regular season. |

Things aren't looking good for PRV. Went out and added Morrow who plays same wing as him. |

Crazy 'what if' of the day:
What if we made a deal surrounding Oskar Klefbom for Derek Stepan?
Oilers could use a top 6 centre now and a two-way guy in the go-ahead. Rangers have a ton of players up for new contracts next year and though they've got a great defense, rumours of Marc Staal wanting to move have been swirling ever since Jordan was traded. Losing Klefbom hurts, but at least at this moment he appears to be behind Nurse in development. We'd still have the rights to Schultz, Smid, Ference, Petry and Larsen next off-season. - Morris
Clouts would come back and kill you. |

Ouch that's not good for him. St.louis style doesn't seem like a good fit for him IMO. |

While I like Ryan Jones`attitude and work ethic (usually), he really is not an NHL level skater. He skates like those guys that play beer league hockey that never played organized hockey or had a power-skating coach. I am sure he was an awesome guy in the room, but I for one was a bit tired of watching his legs and elbows...and HAIR...move so fast, but really, he wasn`t going anywhere. Skating is such a make-or-break ability in the bigs and he just doesn`t have it.
I think a guy like Mason Raymond or Andrew Cogliano will always get a chance before a guy like Jones. You can teach those guys to chill out a bit and slow down and THINK about where they`re supposed to be/go. You can`t teach a slow horse like Jones to get there faster.
Hopefully someone picks him up and he excels somewhere. I am happy that the Oilers are able to make these types of tough decisions now. Moving on UP! (maybe the Canucks will pick up more of our garbage...ala Barker and Vandermeer! hehe) |

I'm sure Acton will hit a mid-season slump and will need a couple games off to recover and refocus.
Is it too early to say that we "finally" have "nhl-calibre depth players"? - ChetManly
Yes, too early.
If they can do it in a sustained manner against full sharks, kings, nucks rosters then ill share the excitement |

I think it's a perfect fit, he just has to learn it. Prv was a good defensive player on a bad team. Now he is probably average on a real good team. I have confidence that he'll figure it out in the next couple months. Might not get the points, but he'll be a good player for them. |

Fair enough. I always tought of him as offensive guy vs a defensive guy, hopefully he can combine the two. |
