If people used to laugh at us, at least now they'll be laughing with us.

I'm asking out of interest. I don't watch Flames, or Oilers or Jets or Leafs games as a habit, and was wondering if other teams get the same kind of support out of market as the Canucks do. I know from years of going to Canucks games in Vancouver, that when Montreal comes to town it can be as much as 50/50 for fan support (at least in the past, its probably not quite as much now). There are plenty of snow birds, they can't all be Canucks fans.

I don't think any western team can compare to the leafs or Habs when they come to town vs when we are out east ... Having been around much longer they have a larger following .... When comparing western canadian teams fans in southern states markets it's more of who is the flavour of the month ... Right now the Canucks are coming off a string of good years compared to the flames who have done nothing but piss off fans until recently .... 5-6 tears ago may have been different

Lack looks like sh!t at the moment.

Crazy as this sounds, with a new defensively tight shot-blocking system I think Bryzgalov might actually be worth a look if he can come in at the 1m mark. he's definitely take some of the spotlight off Lu that's for sure.

When comparing western canadian teams fans in southern states markets it's more of who is the flavour of the month ... Right now the Canucks are coming off a string of good years compared to the flames who have done nothing but piss off fans until recently .... 5-6 tears ago may have been different

the teams that have been around longer out east will have a larger fan base amoung Canadian teams .... Down in Florida i would guess that the calibre of team may play a factor .... In Cali and Phoenix Canucks have more fans there but they also send down bus loads of fans too so the number of fans in that market may be swayed

Ian was too much of a homer, but local bloggers tend to be a bit more insightful on the local environment and delve into those "this is what I believe will make the team better" topics as opposed to "this and that happened" which can come across more as a press release than anything insightful.

Vintage isn't wrong. The ex-pat population from Ontario in Vancouver is considerable. Taking into account that for a Leafs fan in Van it's the only chance they'll get to watch their team live vs just another home game for Van fans, you'll find many season ticket holders on Craigslist selling their seats for premium $.
