The hawks are going to carry 15 forwards ....
- wiz1901

15 forwards and 8 defensemen = 23 on the roster (plus 2 goalies)

Isn't the limit 23 INCLUDING 2 goalies?

I think, if they carry 8 defensemen, they can only carry 13 forwards.

I see why Q is going with 8 defenseman, but it's unfortunate because it ends up costing one of Morin, Hayes or Nordstrom a roster spot on opening day. But thinking big picture it's probably better do do this than risk losing Kostka to waivers.

I think they eventually take the easy way out and send him down. Saying he needs more time to get used to north america etc... I thought he looked good, especially with Kruger. They seem to have chemistry. But who gets cut, then? Morin and Hayes have looked good, too.

Sending down Nordstrom would be the easy way out, but I expect the team will make the moves that will be best for the team. I'm starting to get the feeling that Morin is the odd man out. But even if he gets sent down I'll be a quick recall is somebody get hurt (*knock on wood*) or if one of the other young guys starts to soil the sheets.

With the camp Morin has had, it might be hard to justify. I still like him better than hayes, though. I keep reading good things about hayes, though. I would keep those 2 over Hayes but I think the front office wants Hayes here

I agree with you 100%, my choices would be Morin, Nordstrom, then Hayes. But like I've said before, the guy that goes to Rockford from this group will be the first one recalled.

I keep reading that this was the shortest off season in NHL history. But to me if felt just as long a any other, even considering we won the Cup.

Even with the season ending a lot later it was still almost 3 months off and that was just for the final 2 teams. A lot longer for non-playoff teams. How many jobs do people get so much time off? Well teachers do

Only my opinion, but I don't think Q has ever liked Morin much as a player. His previous call ups were always one game in and outs. I think he believes he can do more with Hayes. And Nordstrom's game has probably really surprised him. But who knows - probably find out Sunday morning.

>Think you are correct in your thoughts about Q not liking Morin much
>Also think Morin is one of those players who might score a ton of goals in the right situation
>Doubt Q ever makes that happen -- unless injuries do
