If he gets crushed then he gets crushed. But Shaw isnt exactly a huge guy and hes doing alright for himself. Im not gonna worry about it until he takes a big hit and shows hes either A.) Intimidated from it, or B) shakes it off and gets back into the play. - BlazinMike
Shaw may be 2 - 3" shorter than Nordstrom but he's 20lbs heavier. Also, Shaw is more the exception than the rule when it comes to a player's size.

First, he is not 165 but 185. Look at Rockford profile of him, not the one on Hawks team page.
Second. conditioning, really!!! That is what you picked out of the days cliche bucket? Based on what? That it sounds cool to say it. Don;t mean to pick on you, but buddy, you are so much smarter than that comment.
I am 3 years into this board and it still boggles my mind how many guys still talk the old school narrative of hockey. Modern hockey is about speed. The game is played, the players are different from yesteryear. Guys are not affraid. Nobody can mug anyone. We saw how the big bad bruins could not catch their wind chasing the hawks, but boy, once they did. Milan Lucic would scare everyone back to the bench.
Nordstrom is EXACTLY, what the hawks are looking for in replacing Frolik. Speed, IQ, not as strong, but more dynamic and might have a better scoring touch. - TrueGrit
Seriously TG, settle down. Why are you getting so worked up about my choice of words. By conditioning I meant getting use to an 82+ game season since he's only a 57 game season (47 plus 10 playoffs). I'm not saying Nordstrom can't make the team or even even shouldn't. I just suggested that it might be beneficial for Nordstrom to spend a season in Rockford.
We're all fans of the same team here, no need to be so damn ornery. |

For the 20th time, Nordstrom weighs 185 not 165. Check the Rockford roster, not the hawks page.
Goodness gracious. |

Probably right, about me being ornery. But if you have a guy that can play, you let em play. You make a great point about the games played schedule component, |

You sure about that? Did you stand next to Nordstrom while he was on the scale?
Maybe I have a hard time buying that he's gained 20 lbs of muscle since the spring. Then, he was kind of a wiry kid. He still kind of looks like that now.
In all, I have no problem if Q wants to keep him over Morin & Pirri. It might be for the better. The kid can play center and looks like the defensive side of his game is there. Ultimately, I'd like to see him get more time in the "A," but if Q thinks he's ready, then I guess he belongs in the show. |

What evidence suggests Q doesn't like Morin.....just asking. - UnnamedSource
>Fair question
>No hard "evidence"
>I think Rick J. put it best the other day, to paraphrase: "Morin's call-ups have been few and very short-lived."
>Q, as is the right of all coaches, gives some players "a longer look" than others
>It does seem that Morin has not been given a chance to establish any NHL momentum -- perhaps his concussions have been the reason -- or it could be Q
>I just like Morin's upside a lot more than Smith's, but I want the Hawks to win -- whatever works |

Is anyone else worried that one of our 4th line forwards weighs less than 165 pounds when this is technically supposed to be our "grit" line? I have a feeling Nordstrom is going to get crushed in no time and sent down to the Hogs. Seriously wondering why Winchester would not have been a better option. - Murph76
If only they could replace giants and big hitters like Bolland and Frolik. By adding Bollig that line is probably bigger as a whole anyway. And "grit" lines are stupid, I, and Q, like "hockey" lines., whose object is to get the puck in to the other team's zone and shoot til you score. |

I think we all understand that the Blackhawks aren't a team of giants and/or overly physical guys. However, our guys need to be strong enough to take a check in combination with being smart enough to avoid being checked whenever possible.
It seems that only 2 of Morin, Hayes and Nordstrom will make the team to start. Each offers something different and could do well on the team. While I have my preferences on who makes the team I will completely trust in the decision Q makes. |

I miss Bolland. - tomcat24
Bolland is a fantastic shut-down centre, when he's healthy. While I wish Bolland could have been a Blackhawk for a lot longer I think the team will miss Frolik's contributions more. |

No doubt about that, especially in the regular season. And it is too bad about Bolland's injuries and how they have hurt his playing career. I still hope he comes back to work for the Hawks in some capacity |
