Scott said he was on the ice to jump someone. He told Kessel he was going to jump him. What instructions are needed? Scott knew what he was supposed to do when he was left out there.
- Canada Cup

I don't get your point - are you saying Scott and Rolston are telepathically linked?

In all seriousness, I get what your saying - yes, Scott knows his role. I just didn't like Ek's assertion that Rolston put him out there to specifically target Kessel. Carlysle had last line change - when he saw Scott was still out there, he should have pulled Kessel off the ice.

Also, we don't know what Scott told him; we only know what Kessel says Scot told him. There's a difference. I'm sure there was a challenge, no doubt - but "I'm going to jump you", what, is this 3rd grade, see me in the playground after school?!? I don't buy that - sounds like a wussy trying to justify his hacking and spearing.

Have you watched the alleged spear? Really, do you think it's a penalty let alone a suspension?????? WTF? Guys spear there own player in the arse to give them more speed when back checking...that's what kind of spear it was. If Kessel wanted to spear him...he would have gave him the old pitch fork I would think.
- Garnie

The spear itself was not a "hard" spear, but non the less, you can't spear someone. Yes it should be a penalty. They don't call high stick penalties on the force of the high stick (unless you draw blood) Everything leading up to the spear makes it look even worse.

you usually don't see such a large wussy move as the one Scott / Rolston made - it's unprecedented. It's new ground for everyone involved and deserves discussion for the integrity of the game. Scott is an innovator - he's evolving the fighting game. Like Brodeur playing the puck in the corners the rules of the game may have to change when players are being giant pussies. They can call it the John Scott rule.
- BlowMonkey

Just wow.........

Apparently Make-Me-Laffs fans do not know how to read.

There was NO MOVE. YOUR coach is the one who made the stupid move by putting his BEST player out against a goon. DEFEND THAT!!!!!

And Kassian "accidentally" hit Gagner in the face and he got 8 games.

The only thing that is going to save Kessel (and I'm sure Kessel will be saved) is the All Star rule.

An all star player took a shot at 4th line goon and he will get off with a slap on the wrist.

If John Scott had slashed and then speared Kessel in the same manner her would probably get kicked out the league.

How does Carlyle escape blame for all of this. He blew the change. Carlyle had the last change Scott was on the ice why send Kessel out there. If he needed Kessel on the ice send Clarkson with him.

That's hilarious. Yeah let's go out and injure a star player because we got some suspensions for acting like dim-witted meatheads. Scott actually threw no punches and caused no injuries; he just instigated Captain Coward into swinging his purse and the rest of the team into jumping him. Hoping harm comes upon someone else is just disgusting. Go (frank) yourself for the 3rd time today you human paraquat.

Kessel would jersey you, right after he beat your dad to get to you in the basement!!!

Sorry for not being clearer, bud, he'd been on the ice during the previous shift. He never left the ice. Ergo he never went back to the bench to get the alleged instructions from Rolston to jump Kessel.
- marcr27

Was he actually on the ice for the Propp goal? Or when Propp picked a fight with Devane?

He probably thought that Scott wouldn't be dumb enough to try and drop the mitts with Kessel. He really underestimated Scott's stupidity.

Kessel is going to lose the spear argument as well. A spear is a spear regardless of the force. The fact that it came after 2 lumberjack slashes hurts his case even worse.
- fiveandagame

LOL, some of these Toronto fans are ignorant. Kessel was swinging his stick all over the place. And trust me, form a neutral fan, he was spearing.

More aggravating than the stupid blog and this ridiculous follow up is that the auto-editor changed my word to "wussy". That sucks; I'd never use that word.

(frank), funny - 2 wacks...no spear.

Talk about ignorant, you could probably youtube it and watch it for the 1st time

I agree he will probably get suspended for slashing Scott when he was down.

The 1st slash was more in self-defense I believe...but hey I only watched it a few times...so maybe I missed something.
