Yeah, leaving the bench, he's gotta get the shannaban, however, Kessel only getting 0 games for repeatedly swinging his stick like an ax seems a little mild, after all, preseason games dont count, wont hurt his wallet or his stats. He shoud have had a couple of in season games too.

I think Shanny realized what a complete wussy move it was to have Scott go after Kessel.

Kessel got the 3 remaining pre-season games. Suck it Scott apologists. Rolston fined. Phil free! all is right in the world. Oh well Buffalo at least someone talked about your sad sack team for 2 days! Be proud!

Seems a bit bigger of a wuss move to hack and spear the way he did. He could of been a man. But chose to be a boy.

If Orr responded to Scott that way, he gets suspended.
Fact that the cowardly Scott went after Kessel was enough to get Kessel off of almost any response. I am surprised he even got suspended for preseason games.

no one says kessel had to fight. it's ridiculous to think he had no other options. he takes 3 strides back and everyone including the refs would have jumped in between them.

Right, cause I am sure if you had a 6ft8" 270pound professional hockey FIGHTER coming at you - that you would respond like a "man" too.

you mean colton? Cause every goon in the league went after bobby, and he never backed down, they had to chop his knees out from under him.

The suspension was more than appropriate, that's why it's an automatic 10 regular season game suspension. Clarkson's actions are somewhat justified, especially if the 10 game misconduct was a risk Carlyle was willing to take in order to protect his superstar. As much as I hate the buffalo Giant Goon for crossing the line trying to attack someone in an entirely different weight and height class, Clarkson in the preseason also looks to be a goon that can't think on the spot. I see him being aggressive many times in the preseason. Maybe his aggressiveness/angry behavior will not help him with future misdemeanors in the league.

For good ol' rivalry sake:

On the flipside...Clarkson's hold of Pageau's helmet as a third man in the scramble somehow miraculously gave Toronto an pp edge in the first pre-season rivalry against Ottawa, which is mainly why Leafs won. Er... yeah that and bollands goaltending intereference goal when he was located right in the middle of the crease and used his position to prevent any possibility from the back up tender to make the save. Either way I expect similar reffing tonight in Toronto. They gave poopty penalties to Toronto at the start of the game, maybe that's how clarkson got away?

No.

First, you don't get paid for pre-season games so how could sitting out a pre-season game be considered a kind of punishment? Second, some players skip a pre-season game here or there because it's just a warmup for the regular season. And third, pre-season games mean nothing as there are no points awarded therefore it impact the team in no way whatsoever and makes no sense as punishment.

Fourth, did you really ask that question?

Hahaha... that's exactly what I thought in the exact same order.

oh so now a goon and a star can't be on the ice at the same time either. Again sounds great - we'll just put Orr on everytime Crosby is on the ice. It's going to be a lot easier beating Pit without that guy bringing the party down.

Use your head.

I think the real question is,
when the next bench clearing brawl inevitably occurs,
and everyone but the 12 guys who were on the ice get 10 games,
and salaries still count against cap,
how will the clubs involved ice a team?

- daws44

That's where and when and why two-way contracts exists.... duh! smf

in fairness Leaf fans are arrogant regardless of their team's success or lack thereof. and i don't see what Buffalo's all-time record against them has to do with anything. right now Toronto is the better club.

I think Carlyle protected Clarkson by nothing having him on the ice. If Scott fought him, Clarkson would have been beating so bad he would have been out for at least 15 games
