You don't get suspended for breaking an unwritten rule.
- Jaker

I am SHOCKED to hear a Leafs fan say it, but it's true. I mean Scott was really only barking at Kessel. Kessel turned to start the contact first. That's at least how I saw it. Who's to say Scott even does anything when the puck is dropped?

For gods sake. Get over the 10 game suspension already people. These guys know the rules. He chose to leave the bench. You can point out a guys size all you want. It doesnt justify breaking the rules and getting suspended for it and then saying. But but but. Hes a really big dude. I seriously doubt that Scott would of done anything to him. Prolly would grabbed him and tossed him into the front row to get some pretzels for his boys.

I heard players have contact in the face off dot all the time. Scott dropped his gloves and reached for Kessel. Kessel - still had his gloves on - we know this because his gloves were wildly swinging his stick at this time. Another way we know this is because Scott was assessed the instigator.

But what he is saying is that Kessel sure while still having his gloves on. Turns to Scott and looks like hes gonna make contact.

You gotta be (frank)in' joking! You really think that Kessel is EVER going to instigate with Scott?

how is that relevant. I mean I get that Scott was scared for his life and just dropped his gloves and started flailing at the mere thought of Kessel maybe wanting to kick his ass....but it's still irrelevant - Scott got the instigator - you know what they give that out for right? I'll give you a hint - it's instigating.

If he thinks he can draw a penalty. Why not? Maybe he thought he could run his mouth to and that Scott would not do anything because hes a Goal Scorer. People do dumb crap all the time. Like trying to chop someones leg off.

Sorry Ek, one of your most pointless blogs.

Are you really questioning the validity of the auto-10 rule? Really simple stuff Ek. No need to over-analyze.

you usually don't see such a large wussy move as the one Scott / Rolston made - it's unprecedented. It's new ground for everyone involved and deserves discussion for the integrity of the game. Scott is an innovator - he's evolving the fighting game. Like Brodeur playing the puck in the corners the rules of the game may have to change when players are being giant pussies. They can call it the John Scott rule.
- BlowMonkey

I saw one when kessel backed up and started swinging his stick. I am so glad Scott smoked out the biggest wussie on the leafs.

How is rolston a name even brought up here? He did nothing but not change his lines.

According to the leafs fans Scott should be suspended for scaring Kessel and Rolston should be suspended for not taking his player off the ice.

Carlyle is a clown and it's on his head.

How in the hell should Scott be suspended? I hate the guy...but come on. Scott was doing his job. Do we really need to pussify the game any further?

Hey as long as all teams and the NHL are on the same page agreeing that putting a goon on the ice to go try and beat the hell out of star players it's all good. The Leafs are in stellar position to play that way with the rest of the league with the lineup they have - shouldn't be a problem! Be a hell of a fun year!

First.

SCOTT WAS ON THE ICE. Carlyle put Kessel out there. STUPID OR WHAT?

Second.......

The rules states REGULAR SEASON GAMES.

- ViolentEd1

1. Rolston was stupid for throwing the goon squad out after an emotional fight, all the fault is on him for the line brawl IMO.

2. Carlyle putting out his top line was an experienced coach's move, trying to defuse the situation. No one in their wildest dreams would figure Scott would attack Kessel

oh so now a goon and a star can't be on the ice at the same time either. Again sounds great - we'll just put Orr on everytime Crosby is on the ice. It's going to be a lot easier beating Pit without that guy bringing the party down.

Use your head.
