You're right, Fred. Lucic does not purport himself to be a tough guy. He never resorts to physical intimidation. He never drops them at the drop of a hat against players he's sure he can beat.

He's just a hard-working checker who keeps his head down and does his job.

PS - Just a head's up, you're not allowed to remove your own helmet anymore.

did you see the fight against this rechlicz guy last night?

If he's going to parade around the ice making the Discount-Double-Check motion like he's some sort of heavyweight champion, he needs to back it up. And not against Featherweights.
- 3M

He can play hockey. Why risk getting injured fighting a guy who can barely skate and plays 5 minutes a game? I'm not saying I always like his attitude but I think he plays his role like he's supposed to most of the time.

that would be the byproduct, rather than the intent. They brought them in to help them win hockey games and possibly go further in the playoffs.

Agreed. Just like the fact MB is bringing in vets to assist in the development of the prospects instead of pure band aid solutions. The salary cap has changed the value of what a UFA veteran brings to a team. The days of "Sather type solutions" are almost gone, thank goodness.

Although Nonis and Lowe are ushering new overpaying management systems of their own

i don't like the idea of rookies like Tinordi and Bournival not making this team because there's no room. that's a luxury that the great teams of this league can afford. you can understand teams like Boston, Chicago, LA, Pittsburgh keeping guys in the minors who are ready for the NHL. but a team like Montreal, who for all intents and purposes in year 2 of a rebuild, i don't see the point. let the best players play.

You don't understand. He does not want to fight Laraque, so he's a wussy. I'm paid to write jokes, don't argue with me.

No, I mean my head is gigantic. It's my knob that's the same size as Corber Jr. Smaller, probably.

He didn't want to fight Laraque in response to punching a vagina into Komisarek, then spiking the football in front of the Bell Centre crowd on his way to the box. It was a very contextually appropriate fight, and he walked away.

Woahaminute. Are you suggesting that skating ability directly correlates to an obligation to fight? Because that sort of makes my point.

When your 6'4 220 pounds I hope you try to intimade other players, make them nervous and make them cough up the puck more.

Of course his approach is frustrating to other teams and fans but that's kinda the point.

Your point about Neely was great, but he nerver player an 82 games season, and never over 50 games his last 5 seasons and the bruins never won a Stanley cup in his era.

Maybe things would have been better for his team if he had a more Lucic approach to his role. Sure you'd have less respect for him but he might have had more success.

you'd love him on the Habs and Rino would love him on whatever god forsaken team he roots for.

I don't disagree with this, though I'm not sure Lucic's game is the difference between his team's 2011 Cup win, and the Neely-era teams' inability to do the same.

The 2011 & 2013 Bruins were deeper and more balanced than any iteration of them during Neely's tenure.
