Yeah. I know Clarkson's the best choice, but that's like sending out Hartnell to fight Scott. He's the best choice, but you don't want him doing anything more than to basically just grab on and hope the refs can break it up.

Pretty much best case scenario.

Well we disagree then on if Carcillo did anything wrong there. The Flyers bench simply didn't respond to the Pens. Like Carcillo did. Carcillo answered the challenge. The rest of the team, not so much.
- MJL

It would've been nice if biron could've stopped gonchars point shot. That team was very fragile, when things went wrong they caved.

When it comes to protecting your star players, you don't care about penalty calls. Never understood that logic, to take the PP. That's nice but if your star player gets run by someone like Scott, and is injured or concussed or something like that, are you happy with the PP? A team needs to stand up for itself, and sometimes that is more important then getting a PP or the outcome of the game.
- MJL

And Scott Hartnell isnt going to stick up for Giroux? If Giroux gets concussed what effect would having a goon on your team accomplish other then going out to fight the other goon 20 minutes later after Giroux is already concussed? Like I said, it would be more effective to have Hartnell immediately stand up for Giroux, then have guys like Simmonds, Talbot, and Rinaldo keep taking runs at the other teams star player.

Who's younger McGinn or Rosehill? What's better for the future, playing Rosehill every game, or trying to develop McGinn?
- MJL

You can't answer that question and neither can I. McGinn could develop better playing more time in a defensive system with Terry Murray. And Rosehill could be a lockerroom guy that motivates the rest of the younger players. So in that situation then playing Rosehill ocasionally is better for the team.

Well then you agree with me, a team should stick up for itself and other players, rather then turn away to take the PP? Seems as though you're contradicting yourself, becasue you wanted them to skate away in a previous post and "watch them get called."

Sure I can answer that. At some point McGinn is going to get a shot and he's going to have to show that he belings up there. The only way that happens is in the NHL. A player can only develop so much in the AHL, before he becomes a permanent AHL player. Rosehill won't likely become more then he is now, and won't be harmed by sitting in the press box. McGinn has a chance to become more then he is now as a player. So the Flyers getting a younger player in the lineup on a regular basis, versus a player like Rosehill, is better for the future of the team.

Depends on the situation. When I said skate away, I was referring to when the goon would be challeging guys like Hartnell or Talbot to a fight, not in responce to an illegal hit.

I'm not sure what we are talking about here. I like Rosehill as a 13th forward. He can fill in for injuries, and when you know there is going to be a "tensions are high" game. If someone gets injured for 3-4 games, I dont mind him taking a spot on the team. If someone gets injured for a longer period, then yes, McGinn should be the call up.

A lot of your arguements are based on "fact". But in reality, "facts" change based on the circumstances.

According to a report from the New York Post, the NHLPA informed players not to expect any return from last year's escrow withholding of approximately 16 percent of their salary. That is despite the fact that the NHL earned more than 58 percent of its projected revenue for the season even though it only played 58 percent of the schedule thanks to the lockout.

I don't understand this. Is this good or bad for the Flyers or doesn't it matter?

I agree that if it's just a game or two, then play Rosehill. Long term call up a player such as McGinn. You told me I couldn't answer that, when I clearly did. Unless you thought I was suggesting calling up McGinn to be a scratch.

Meaningless to the Flyers. It means the players aren't going to get an escrow check.

You are just posting things today that are going to get me into trouble.

I still think Daniel Carcillo was totally correct in fighting in that game, and I think it's revisionist history that because the Flyers lost, it was wrong.

I was watching that game. Somebody on the Pens deserved a beating that day, because they had started running around because they were losing. It's not Carcillo's fault that three guys let Evgeni Malkin come out of the corner with the puck and score either the tying or winning goal -- I can't remember.

Was waiting for the truth to come out. I don't like to pin blame on just the goalie, but I was at that Game 6. Could've driven a Mack Truck through Biron's holes in the third period.

I really liked biron too, had hopes he would stabilize the position. Didn't he have a shutout in game 5?
