I have long been a supporter of Lava, but damn.

Still favour an up-tempo aggressive system but that was tough. I just have a big fear we will see a drastic panic change to a complete defensive scheme and have to watch that BS for years.

Could be just me, but I really hate that style of play. I also have concerns that many of the forwards on this team really arent all that great defensively to begin with, exposing the weakness further.

We will see, but these issues with Lava. If they remain. He will be gone.

Could be less about the system and more about the team losin faith or growing tired of his act. Who knows. Hopefully it's just the preseason and they look good when it counts next week.

I do think the whole systems thing is overdone to a degree.

I have constantly seen this team come to the brink, and rally around him. I do hope management has realistic expectations. There are a lot of teams in this league that can, and should give the Flyers fits. I still think this team is growing, and needs more star power on D. Management must remain patient.

Ya i've been a fan of Lavy for awhile too, but this system is frustrating to watch, it must be really frustrating to play it.

Raffl's having a real good couple of shifts right now.
- JAKEw1234

I really like Raffl as a player. I can think in a little bit of time, he can be a pretty good player for the Flyers.

They don't need to go to a complete defensive scheme, they need to adapt their transition game to be able to beat the forecheck.

The defenseman gets the puck and immediately he's got 2 or 3 Devils clogging the neutral zone, so he doesn't have an easy pass. Then he gets pressed and the forwards are slow to get back, because they go Hellsapoppin' as soon as the defenseman gets the puck.

If they do a better job at puck support and provide better options for the outlet/1st passes out of the zone, they could generate more speed out of the zone and be better defensively at the same time.

That's usually what happens with the majority of all coaches in sports.

Just because the dark humor is a little fun for me.

It will be hilarious to watch them play D-first, with:
-injury prone and aging d-core
-Mason looking to get his game back, and Emery one hard midnight thrust away from breaking his hips.

I think what our D lacks it star power, it makes up for in depth. If Mez gets back on top of his game, he'd be our 5/6. That's pretty solid.

Btw, is LSchenn playing? Haven't seen him at all.

He is not. Which is why I'm not going to jump to conclusions until we see a couple weeks of a full roster. They are missing energy from Rinaldo and Simmonds tonight as well.

The Flyers aren't really even playing all aspects of the their normal style of play. They are playing a very conservative style on the forecheck. I'm not happy with the breakout scheme, as they're still trying too many long passes through the neutral zone. But they haven't unleashed the dogs so to speak.

Lavys gone by December this is just horrible. They should have no problem scoring... It seems as if they can't get anything started. This is preason, but all of the regular season players are playing... I'm scared!
