Yeah, I saw what happened at last year's Leafs/Habs debacle.

I am guessing the acrimony would run pretty thick.

Fanbases around here are remarkably similar... except Vancouver of course.

I hear the Sens seasons ticket package includes a glossy mag with puck posession stats tatooed on Roman Centurions.

little different. i'd say a more apt comparison is the Eller-Gryba hit. lots of cries for suspensions, but also many of us saying it wasn't necessarily a suspend-able hit. but overall you're right, we're all homers anyway.

Tropp Fighting Devane.
Goalie Fight.

... those were the two dumbest fights. Dumbest decision was obviously Clarkson, with a runner-up to Scott.

- Aetherial

i have no problem with Tropp fighting Devane, he can normally hold his own, just got the short end of the stick there. just hope he is ok, he cracked his head off of the ice pretty good.

I may have to put Scott at number 1. With Clarkson being 2nd. Scott does not go after Kessel, none of this happens.

It is good to have the QEW rivalry back. Now we just need a TOR/BUF playoff series. But we may have to wait awhile.

Yes...blame the league for this.
- stormeyAlterEgo

Actually, Bettman himself pushed Clarkson over the boards and on the ice just to get him suspended.

Disagreed.
Gotta be.
1. Carlyle.
2. Clarkson
3. Scott.
4. Miller
5. Flynn.

No. You can't ignore the guy who started it all by ending up on the ice with scrambled eggs for brains.

He clearly wants nothing to do with the Leafs being in the final this year.

Eller-Gryba was the only play were I really didn't know which position to take.

I generally go against the grain and think that most of the accidental crap is intentional. I think Steckel meant to hit Crosby. I definitely think Cooke meant to rake the back of Karlsson's leg.

Mike or Colin, write a blog about the play in pre season from the Leaf players, grade them who might stick and so on. Another blog on this crap and it will be locked.

He can't count that high anymore. He can't go lower than 4, or he won't understand his ranking.

The cap hits of suspended players remain on a team’s books, so the fill-ins will likely come from the lower range of Toronto’s payroll. Carter Ashton ($1.04 million) and Joe Colborne ($600,000) are obvious choices – both played well Sunday before all hell broke loose – while Trevor Smith ($550,000) and Troy Bodie ($600,000) could also be called on.

A Clarkson suspension could also impact Mason Raymond and Cody Franson, who are both currently without contracts. Raymond, a speedy winger, looked like a good bet to turn his tryout into a one-year deal with the Leafs.

I keep reading the Leafs will win without Clarkson and that he won't be missed.

Worst signing EVER......apparently.

To say the Leafs will not miss Clarkson is very naive IMHO.

- stormeyAlterEgo

The Leafs have survived without having Lupul in the lineup and point wise, Lupul is far more productive than Clarkson. Clarkson has edge and grit which can be temporarily replaced with Bodie or Colborne. It's funny how some think losing Clarkson for 10 games will devestate this team.

The Leafs look tough this year and have depth. They other teams to hate playing against them... I think thats going to happen this year.

By jumping off the bench to defend his new team and its star, Phil Kessel, David Clarkson earned himself an automatic 10-game suspension – a ruling the NHL will almost certainly hand down once it has fully reviewed video of the incident on Monday – and made the job of general manager Dave Nonis much more difficult with only a week to go before opening night.

For starters, the Leafs will be forced to hang on to at least one extra forward out of training camp while also remaining below the $64.3-million cap ceiling. And if Kessel – who received a match penalty for swinging his stick at Sabres behemoth John Scott after the melee kicked off – is also suspended, they will probably need two extra bodies.
