Sounds like a legal battle to me. NHL can't have it both ways. They are either league games or they are not. If they are league games, then suspensions must count as part of per-season.

nope...
initial mistake to the Sabres on this one...

Tropp fighting Devane..... I'm going out on a limb here but I think Tropp bit off a little more than he could chew...

and Rolston, in his professor glasses and tweed jacket is likely going to get a phone call or two from Carlyle I would think. with the score of the game at that point, what the heck was Scott doing on the ice at all?

Carlyle did make a mistake however... he should have sent Devane, Broll and Bodie or similar.

Holy drama people.

A) There's no reason for people to be saying they are embarrassed to be leaf fans based on what happened....quit being so dramatic
B) Clarkson deserves the 10 games he will get....it was simply foolish to leave the bench, but I get why he did it.
C) Kessel should be suspended for two handed Scott on the angles...you should never swing your stick like that at someone....3 pre season games max.
D) Kessel filling in Flynn was freakin great to watch.
E) A goalie fight...yes a goalie fight....that was great to see! Good job Bernier!
F) No sense trying to assume what Kessel did or didnt say...for now you cant prove anything and you just look foolish.

And most important of all.

G) What a great freakin episode of Breaking Bad last night! WOW!

the kid from detroit that got suspended.... his suspension is definitely being served during pre-season. i recall the article saying suspended for 4 preseason games.

some one just posted the league rule that covers it so it the league discretion...so its a wait and see situation

And then Clarkson saved Ashton's. I truly believe Clarkson jumped do nobody would have to go at it with Scott, the guys on the ice would have got hurt.

Clarkson is a hero.

He is going to have quite the fight card after this season ,i think

I agree about the Leafs being always right and all other NHL teams being always wrong, all the time, in any situation.

so on a serious note... just trying to understand how you view these things....

when Orr demolished have the Habs line-up (2 or 3 physically) and the rest psychologically... was Orr to blame for starting that event... or does the honor go to Plekanec for slashing Orr?

I can't wait to hear the response on this one. English please.

gilmour was a skill guy who was a (frank) of a lot smaller.. he would of never done something like that

i'm trying to comment without the anger, please understand that.

I think we all understand that Kessel is a very different kind of player than Gilmour. Gilmour played with an edge that every time he stepped onto the ice. Phil - not so much. I'm really not all that troubled by his behavior last night. If nothing else, I have a feeling he liked the way his teammates had his back through the whole thing. Nonis should bring him a contract this morning.

28.2 Pre-Season and Exhibition Games - Whenever suspensions are imposed as a result of infractions occurring during pre-season and exhibition games, the Commissioner shall exercise his discretion in scheduling the suspensions to ensure that no team shall be short more players in any regular League game than it would have been had the infractions occurred in regular League games.

Bernier is Felix Potvin, leafs will still win games without Clarkson and we love to see a new guy protecting the talent. Thank goodness Orr and Mclaren weren't playing last night. That would have been devastating to Hockey in Buffalo.

dude you need help. you base way too much of your self-worth on how not tough the Habs are. time to get over it. it's just hockey.

I get that.

My point is, why would Clarkson get treated differently?

The new CBA allows for an independent appeal, it is no longer in the hands of Bettman, all suspensions can be appealed. I believe Bissonnette has filed an appeal, don't know if he went through with it yet but one of the insiders tweeted it.

yeah... the Biz is appealing his suspension, citing line change... but i also just read that the league can over rule the automatic 10 games....

although i dont see that as likely, i wonder if thats ever happened?

exactly. his suspension is only effective in the regular season. will be the same deal with Clarkson. he won't get special treatment because it's Toronto.
