I am guessing what happened was that Devane said something or threatened him, and even though the kid is not really a fighter he thought he should step up.

I am pretty sure he was conscussed. Stepping up was a bad move.

wether he said some thing or not scott plays maybe 6 min a game if he is lucky and kessel is one of the leafs top players who plays 20 min a game.... seems if scott can get him to drop the gloves they take kessel off the ice for at least 5 min... not saying that it is right what scott did but there is a small amount of reasoning around it
